Hi Greg D or Dennis,
Can you post a list of packages which are in XO Software but not "upstream" yet?
I wrote down "koji latest-pkg dist-olpc4 --all" from our last IRC meeting and documented it here: http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Feature_roadmap/Rebase_on_Fedora_10
but I don't know where or how to execute that.
If you can run it and get a list and post it to that wiki page that would be great. Or you could link to the documentation which shows how anyone can generate that list.
I want to have this in hand before I talk to John P at Fudcon January 8 so any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Greg S

On a Fedora based machine you need to do a 'yum install koji' and from there you can run the command above from the command line.

Here's the list of packages that are unique to dist-olpc4, according to my koji run from today:

hippo-canvas-0.3.0-5.20081014svn.olpc4 dist-olpc4 tomeu hulahop-0.4.7-1.olpc4 dist-olpc4 ausil
Is there a reason why these aren't in Fedora mainline, I think they're both just for OLPC and hence wouldn't impact being in mainline
ohm-0.1.1-7.22.20080921git.fc10 dist-olpc4 pbrobinson olpc-netutils-0.7-2.fc10 dist-olpc4 pbrobinson olpc-utils-0.89-6.fc10 dist-olpc4 pbrobinson olpcsound-5.08.92-12.fc10 dist-olpc4 pbrobinson
These are actually in mainline but were tagged for OLPC so they would end up in joyride quicker, I'll untag them otherwise we don't get newer Fedora builds.

I've got an open bug on this to move the examples that timidty++-patch pulls in into a subpackage. Once I do that we shouldn't need the OLPC branch anymore.

Most likely these will need to keep the OLPC branches, since I believe they have some OLPC-specific patches.

I actually spoke with Daf a few days ago about cooking up a patch acceptable to upstream for implementing the necessary functionality here. I haven't heard back from him yet though...
Any thoughts, Daf?

Just got done talking to Colin, and he's fine with having one of the OLPC guys maintaining hippo-canvas(1). So, we just need to determine who is going to maintain it, and have them update the devel branch.

I'm not sure whether the version we're using is API-compatible with the version currently in Fedora, though -- if Colin's still using it, we'll need to work that out.
Thanks,
- Chris.

Right. Doing a quick repoquery, it looks like the only package in Fedora that requires hippo-canvas is mugshot.

Did you want me to take care of this for devel?

If we replace Fedora's hippo-canvas with ours, we might break Mugshot. It would be great if someone could try that out and see what happens; if it looks like the packages are API-compatible then we can take over maintaining hippo-canvas, but if they aren't then we're back to the drawing board.
Thanks,
- Chris.

I built mugshot against our version of hippo-canvas. It does build however it segfaults immediately. So looks like we can't use our version in mainline fedora at this time. Does anyone know/remember what the svn version of hippo- canvas offers that the official release does not?

OkI take back my previous comments. After further testing it seems mugshot only segfaults on its first run, after that it runs just fine. So looks like the svn snapshot OLPC uses should work for mainline Fedora.
Comments?
