I like the idea but if there are no more than a hand full of people interested
maybe the packaging list would be better suited.
I'm not sure, if packaging list is the right target audience, since
meaning of "packaging" in web-devel circles is a bit different.
There are quite a few programs out there, solely made for fetching
tarballs, zips, git snapshots to place those to a location in file
system. A different program for a different target language, some of
them depending on others.
- npm
- bower
- ...
Thinking of rpm, all those should go away.
