Containerized ML workflows on Fedora
by Michael McCune
hi all,
i am writing today to get a sense for how the group feels about
creating content that focuses on containerized machine learning
workflows on fedora.
i have been creating cloud native ml applications for a few years now
and most of my work begins on fedora inside of containers. from the
wiki page[0], it seems apparent that one of the major focuses of this
group is around packaging various frameworks and tools for fedora, but
i am curious how the sig feels about embracing a more container
focused approach to machine learning development on fedora.
i think the initial outputs from a push like this could easily see us
creating some tutorial content and fedora based images for doing work
that uses modern machine learning frameworks (eg spark, tensorflow,
etc). i also think that focusing on containers gives us an easier way
to tell stories about machine learning on silverblue and fedora
coreos.
with that said, what does the group think about this?

ML SIG has a Telegram group
by Lumir Balhar
Hello.
On Flock, NeuroFedora group inspired me so I've created the Telegram
group for us. Please join in at https://t.me/FedoraMLSIG
I've also add it to our wiki.
Next step is to create a bridge between Telegram and IRC so people can
use only one thing they prefer.
Have a nice day.

introduction
by Michael McCune
hello/
my name is Michael McCune, i usually go by the handle "elmiko", and i
am just starting to learn about the fedora ml-sig.
i've got a short history with machine learning and distributed
computing, i have mainly been working on the radanalytics.io community
and have recently started contributing the opendatahub.io community.
my main interests are FOSS (of course XD), open infrastructures, and
distributed computing. i have built many machine learning related
applications, mostly using apache spark, and i have also presented
talks and workshops on machine learning at several conferences over
the last few years.
i use fedora as my daily operating system and do most of my
development work there. i am hoping to learn more about this community
and help to share more fedora-based workflows for doing machine
learning.
full disclosure, i should probably mention that i work for red hat ;)

[Proposal] Move discussions from mailing list to Discourse
by Dhanesh B. Sabane
Hello,
As part of the SIG revival, I was wondering if we should move our
communications to Discourse. I believe it's a great way to increase
engagement of the team and our tasks with the wider community.
A recent success story is the CommOps team who retired the mailing list
in favour of Discourse. We can always ask the CommOps team for help, if
need be.
What do you think?
Thanks,
