18:02:18 <janeznemanic> hi
18:02:35 <rohitpaulk> Hi everyone, I'm Rohit from India. I'm a GSoC participant, working on Glittergallery :)
18:02:50 <abadger1999> greetings
18:02:55 <oddshocks> rohitpaulk: welcome!
18:03:13 <banas> hi everyone :)
18:03:14 <pingou> hi rohitpaulk
18:03:16 <rohitpaulk> oddshocks: :)
18:03:30 <rohitpaulk> pingou: hi
18:03:32 <lanica> Hello, my name is Phillip T. George and I'm interested in joining the sysadmin-web FIG. I live in the US (Central timezone). I have Linux sysadmin/engineering experience. currently in an environment with almost 5K servers (only around 500 which are virtual). I've been lurking in #fedora-admin, #fedora-websites, and #fedora-noc...trying to learn what I can...watching nagios and reading SOPs of course. I have some programming experience
18:04:00 <pingou> cool, welcome lanica
18:04:04 <oddshocks> lanica: also welcome!
18:04:06 <lanica> and I like long walks on the beach. (hehe)
18:04:11 <lanica> Thanks :)
18:04:44 <nirik> welcome
18:06:03 <nirik> any other new folks want to introduce themselves or apprentices with questions?
18:06:09 <ootbro> apprentice comment .....
18:06:34 <ootbro> I think I'll finally be getting started on the map/write up/ etc. today
18:07:03 <ootbro> .... got life's latest curve ball handled and I'm carving out the time to work on Fedora stuff
18:07:43 <nirik> cool. ;) thanks again for working on it...
18:07:54 <ootbro> you're welcome. :)
18:08:07 <nirik> #topic Applications status / discussion
18:08:17 <nirik> any applications news this week? or upcoming?
18:08:32 <pingou> I got some code review pending
18:08:35 <pingou> on fedocal and on pkgdb2
18:08:41 <pingou> reviewers welcome :)
18:08:47 <oddshocks> pingou: I can tackle some of that
18:09:12 <pingou> the pkgdb2 ones expand the API, include one change that's required to update package's information and critpath packages (required for releng)
18:09:31 <pingou> otherwise we should see to push the kerneltest application to prod I guess
18:09:49 * pingou worked some more on mirrormanager2
18:10:02 * pingou leaves the floor to charul
18:10:09 <pingou> oddshocks: that's be nice, thanks man!
18:10:15 <charul> I have deployed dev instance for shumgrepper app. url: http://209.132.184.120
18:10:26 <oddshocks> pingou: I'll poke at them after I get out of this Atomic Cloud meeting :)
18:10:34 <pingou> oddshocks: no worry, thanks :)
18:10:47 <tflink> taskotron is getting closer to production-ready. I'm hoping to have dev ready today or tomorrow, stg early next week and if all goes well, production by the end of next week to let it run for ~ 1 week before turning off autoqa
18:10:48 * docent is late
18:11:32 <pingou> tflink: sweet!
18:11:45 <nirik> tflink: congrats! great progress.
18:12:06 <banas> I'd like to publish glittergallery's meeting logs here as well, we're making steady progress: http://glittergallery.github.io/meetings/2014/glittergallery.2014-06-18-14.…

18:15:21 <pingou> charul: any link to show the output of shumgrepper?

18:24:37 <nirik> I'd like to try and use rhel7 for anything new and migrate things over as we can.
18:24:58 <abadger1999> Cool
18:25:01 * pingou in for it
18:25:07 <tflink> can we start using the new rbac_playbook?
18:25:20 <nirik> I'm not sure how things are looking for some of our applications stacks in rhel7/epel7, but we can figure out as we go
18:25:32 <abadger1999> Hey app people, now that we have RHEL7 as an option we should start talking about python3... Either open floor or after meeting in #fedora-apps?
18:25:33 <nirik> tflink: yep. I was going to reply to that but haven't yet. I'm all for moving it in.
18:25:54 <tflink> cool, I suspect that this "run the entire playbook, every time" thing is going to get old pretty quick :)
18:26:02 <nirik> tflink: indeed. ;)
18:26:24 <nirik> we also have a rhel7 cloud instance
18:26:29 <nirik> image sorry.
18:26:40 <nirik> so, we can spin up ones there for testing or whatever.
18:27:44 <nirik> ansible migration hasn't really moved too much this week, I will try and get some more going soon.
18:27:54 <pingou> jenkins el7 final builder?
18:28:06 <smooge> I am looking at doing the log box after I get my current yaks shaved
18:28:17 <nirik> pingou: should be able to terminate the current one, update the image id to rhel7final and reprovison.
18:28:29 <pingou> nirik: cool :)
18:29:01 <nirik> smooge: cool. one thing I noticed is that epel7 has a newer collectd, so it's not talking to log02. A log01 with rhel7 collectd would let us point them to it.
18:29:33 <smooge> yeah.. that is my plan.
18:29:51 <nirik> and we can make it larger disk wise etc.
18:29:54 <smooge> one of the new virthost boxes will be basically log02 for disk space
18:30:15 <smooge> sorry log02
18:30:23 <smooge> sorry log01 .. fingers you had one job
18:30:50 <nirik> 1.5tb or so should be fine...
18:31:01 <nirik> 1.5tb should be enough for anyone!
18:31:20 <nirik> #topic nagios/alerts recap
18:31:35 <nirik> .tiny https://admin.fedoraproject.org/nagios/cgi-bin//summary.cgi?report=1&displa…
18:31:35 <zodbot> nirik: http://tinyurl.com/q8j48o9
18:31:58 <nirik> it was a quiet week aside from the virthost-comm02 stuff... which turns out to be a dns error. ;)
18:32:06 <lanica> I found that one ;)
18:32:15 <nirik> thanks for noticing that lanica
18:32:19 <lanica> Its nice to be almost useful.
18:32:20 <lanica> NP
18:32:52 <nirik> So, drop the top 8... and we are left with downloads (which I was reinstalling) and telia (which we are going to move off)
18:33:29 <nirik> so, overall not too bad nagios wise.
18:33:38 <nirik> #topic Upcoming Tasks/Items
18:33:38 <nirik> https://apps.fedoraproject.org/calendar/list/infrastructure/
18:33:48 <nirik> anything upcoming anyone would like to schedule or note?
18:34:25 * nirik listens to crickets.
18:34:35 <nirik> #topic Python3 in epel7
18:34:40 <nirik> abadger1999: want to talk about this some?
18:35:23 * webpigeon_ is very late
18:35:56 <abadger1999> Sure.
18:36:23 * bwood09 is suuuuuuuuuuuper late
18:36:39 <abadger1999> So it's been a few years since python3 has appeared o nthe scene.
18:37:12 <abadger1999> python2.6 and python2.7 have added a variety of things that make it easier to write code that can be run on either python2 or python3.
18:37:43 <abadger1999> A lot of python libraries have been ported, including flask and pyramid which are the two web frameworks we're trying to build our code on top of.
18:37:50 <abadger1999> So it seems like the right tine to port.
18:38:04 <abadger1999> The first thing we need to do for that is to get a python3 stack into epel.
18:38:09 * nirik nods.
18:38:19 <nirik> orion was also interested in it for his own needs.
18:38:44 <pingou> sqlalchemy is also py3 ready/compatible iirc
18:39:01 <mhaynes> (get to this when you can) Since we are discussing Python I have a quick question (not really related to python3). Do we have a project license for JetBrains (PyCharm)? I tried to get one but they informed me they are only given to the project as a whole.
18:39:39 <abadger1999> Yep
18:39:45 <abadger1999> orion has opened up a review request
18:39:56 <abadger1999> So first step is probably to review that.
18:39:57 <pingou> Oo
18:40:06 <pingou> abadger1999: to who are you replying?
18:40:08 <abadger1999> https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1091657
18:40:22 <abadger1999> hmm..
18:40:26 <abadger1999> To nirik :-)
18:40:37 <nirik> mhaynes: fedora infra is 100% free and open source, so we don't have any licenses for anything like that. ;)
18:40:51 <nirik> if it's not open, we don't use it (in general)
18:41:08 * lanica cheers.
18:41:44 <abadger1999> Once we get that in we'll need to look at making packages for the python3.4 stack to put in epel to support our apps -- sqlalchemy, requests, flaask and pyramid.
18:41:49 <webpigeon_> pycharm as an open source "community edition"
18:42:04 <abadger1999> We'll also have to look at building mod_wsgi compiled against python3.4
18:42:17 <abadger1999> That's the packaging side.
18:42:30 * nirik nods.
18:42:33 <abadger1999> Code side -- things that are testable in fedora we can start porting now if we want.
18:42:50 * pingou cheers for jenkins/unit-tests
18:43:29 <mhaynes> nirik: that's cool. The license is free for open source projects so I didn't know if that qualified as something FP used or not since it is also commercial.
18:43:36 <abadger1999> Targetting code to run on both python2.7 and python3.4 should be a lot easier than what we had a few years ago with 2.6 and 3.1.
18:43:51 <nirik> so, that also reduces our flask dependence on rhel-extras I guess if we make a python3 flask stack thats seperate.
18:43:53 <abadger1999> but it does require some retraining of your coding habits :-)
18:44:17 <pingou> print() print() print()
18:44:44 <oddshocks> "hello {0}".format('world')
18:44:46 <abadger1999> I can point out a good free online python3 porting book if anyone wants to start looking into porting now.
18:45:07 <pingou> except Exception as err
18:45:27 <abadger1999> I think it would be good to choose one small-ish app and work on porting that and getting the packages it depends on packaged for epel7.
18:45:59 <abadger1999> Once the first one is done we'll have a base that we can grow the ecosystem out.
18:46:14 <pingou> abadger1999: fedocal requires kitchen :)
18:46:19 <oddshocks> wow, talk about a netsplit
18:46:28 <webpigeon_> mhaynes: check out the community edition, it's apache2 licenced
18:46:28 <abadger1999> Anyone have a proposal for what that app should be? ;-)
18:46:43 <pingou> abadger1999: fedocal requires kitchen :)
18:46:46 <abadger1999> pingou: k. I guess we/I need to get that python3 port done then.
18:46:55 <abadger1999> note -- the code is ported but
18:46:57 <pingou> abadger1999: elections is nice and concise
18:46:59 <abadger1999> docs are not updated.
18:47:07 <mhaynes> webpigeon_: I thought that was what I was trying to get :) I'll have to look at the site again. Thanks
18:47:23 <abadger1999> and we probably could do a merged code base if we just target python3.4/python2.7
18:47:24 <abadger1999> heh, netsplit round 2.
18:47:36 <pingou> nuancier isn't much more than elections
18:47:43 <abadger1999> <nod>
18:47:49 <abadger1999> which of those three would you recommend?
18:47:51 <pingou> only PIL and dogpile
18:47:59 <pingou> I think elections is the simplest
18:48:07 <nirik> note that we have an election coming up, and nuancier is in use now...
18:48:14 <nirik> but we still have stg for any of course.
18:48:18 <abadger1999> <nod>
18:48:25 <pingou> pkgdb2 also depends on kitchen
18:48:35 <pingou> (and on py-memcached)
18:48:40 <smooge> netsplit hoooooo
18:48:41 <abadger1999> Yeah -- and having the apps split out to their own servers will be a lifesaver, nirik... so thanks for working on that this past year :-)
18:48:52 <pingou> agreeed :)
18:49:03 <pingou> nirik: nuancier ends after flock
18:49:17 <pingou> that gives us a little time to do the packaging/adjusting work
18:49:33 <pingou> and that election you mentioned, do we have any dates? pre/post-flock?
18:49:34 <nirik> true.
18:49:44 <webpigeon_> mhaynes: the community edition can be downloaded freely, the (nonfree) licenced product can be obtained for free for foss projects, but Fedora generally woudln't use nonfree software
18:50:07 <nirik> pingou: https://fedorahosted.org/fesco/ticket/1317#comment:8
18:50:45 <pingou> so pre-flock as well
18:50:50 <pingou> cool :)
18:51:03 <nirik> yeah.
18:51:17 <nirik> #info elections or nuancier might be good targets for py3 porting first
18:51:17 <abadger1999> Yeah -- getting the packages together will likely be the big bottleneck (isn't it always? ;-)
18:51:29 <mhaynes> webpigeon_: ahhh that's it. I was trying to do the licensed one for foss.... thanks for setting me on the right path! :D
18:51:34 <pingou> *<nod>*
18:51:37 <abadger1999> put we can port via fedora before we get to deployment.
18:51:51 <nirik> yeah
18:52:01 <pingou> nirik: we might want to move stg to el7 for those hosts earlier then
18:52:07 <pingou> gives us a ground to play on
18:52:13 <lanica> Ack...IRC "net split" on my last ocnnection
18:52:21 <nirik> pingou: sure. we should be able to pretty easily.
18:52:23 <pingou> (or I'll just create a el7 dev cloud instance :))
18:52:32 <nirik> nuke old instance, update 2 lines in ansible, re-run playbook.
18:52:35 <abadger1999> <nod> yeah -- that sounds like a good plan.
18:52:46 <nirik> and yeah, cloud image should be ready too..
18:52:48 <pingou> nirik: we got to love ansible/playbook don't we :D
18:52:54 * nirik does. ;)
18:53:18 <nirik> when migrating things from puppet I will probibly also try and move to ansible/rhel7 where possible
18:54:02 * pingou looks forward to the proxies being in ansible (though I'm not sure I'll understand them better)
18:54:21 <nirik> I can try and make them more clear. ;)
18:54:26 <nirik> #topic Open Floor
18:54:40 <nirik> anyone have any items for open floor?
18:54:54 <lanica> newbie question: any way I can build a test box with the environment to get my hands on?
18:54:58 <nirik> questions, comments, suggestions?
18:55:13 <lanica> to get SOME hands on...that is
18:55:19 <nirik> lanica: well, everything we use is available in epel/fedora... ;)
18:55:30 <pingou> nirik: and the infra repo :D
18:55:34 <pingou> (for the apps)
18:55:51 * nirik nods.
18:55:52 <lanica> Right but that only gives me the feel of my lab infrastructure ;)
18:56:09 * pingou <= bad kitty, pkgdb2 isn't packaged in fedora
18:56:14 <nirik> our ansible repo is public and you could use it to setup things...
18:56:22 <nirik> you might need some adjustments tho
18:56:38 <ootbro> question (for nirik?) .... what was the DNS problem that led to the nagios alerts? more importantly, should I pull a whole new copy of the DNS zone files?
18:56:41 <lanica> I can give it a try.
18:57:16 <nirik> ootbro: it was a typo when adding a new machine... the dns repo changes often, so yeah, you wiill want to pull it frequently. ;)
18:57:35 <smooge> ootbro, we update our DNS quote a lot
18:58:00 <smooge> we need to figure out a way to better do it though. A lot of the changes stored in there are the binary data encryption stuff
18:58:05 * webpigeon_ adds a remember to sort out the dns check script
18:58:17 <smooge> so its rapidly heading towards 1GB
18:58:39 <ootbro> nirik, smooge: thanks (I think)...... I did pull a starting set of DNS zone a couple weeks ago, but I'll go back and find the commands to pull a new set to pull and copy to home
18:58:39 <nirik> smooge: I did a garbage collect on it the other day.
18:58:46 <nirik> 259M dns
18:59:01 <smooge> ah
18:59:02 <smooge> good
18:59:15 <smooge> still for a small bunch of text files...
18:59:23 <nirik> yeah, but oh well.
18:59:41 <smooge> oh while we are here: lmacken abadger1999 toshio ralph nirik please look at what you have in your home directories and clean it up
18:59:57 <pingou> btw, do we want to clean the infra repo?
18:59:57 <nirik> yeah, I can.
19:00:13 <abadger1999> smooge: can do -- specific machines?
19:00:14 <pingou> I played with that idea the other day https://github.com/pypingou/repo_manager
19:00:16 <nirik> pingou: that would be nice. There is a bunch of old junk
19:00:27 <nirik> abadger1999: lockbox01
19:00:30 <smooge> lockbox01
19:00:31 <abadger1999> will do.
19:00:34 <pingou> nirik: repo_manager might help us automate things :)
19:00:34 <smooge> thanks
19:00:52 <abadger1999> smooge: or you know, just rebuild the box ;-)
19:01:07 <pingou> lol
19:01:09 <nirik> pingou: looks interesting. Packaged? ;)
19:01:16 <pingou> nirik: can be fixed :)
19:01:16 <smooge> well lockbox02 will have a seperate /home partition
19:01:28 <nirik> pingou: also, a notes on a package would be cool...
19:01:47 <pingou> nirik: hm?
19:01:51 <nirik> abadger1999: thats one that could be a pain. I don't know about the rhel5/6 sync stuff moving...
19:02:24 <nirik> pingou: 'repo_manager add packagename 'because this isn't in epel yet and it's a security update we want to apply right now''
19:02:37 <nirik> and have info report the date and note...
19:02:51 <pingou> oh a log of the actions on the repo, awesome idea! :)
19:03:26 <pingou> nirik: 1 log / repo or 1 for all?
19:03:28 <abadger1999> nirik: as in the code that we have syncing those and what happens when lockbox moves to rhel7?
19:03:44 <nirik> pingou: dunno. I guess it would be per repo
19:03:48 <nirik> abadger1999: yep.
19:04:02 <pingou> nirik: I was thinking that one global might make grep easier
19:04:10 <nirik> anyhow, we can burn that bridge when we cross it. ;)
19:04:18 <nirik> ok, anything else? we are over time...
19:04:19 <pingou> (the log will have to contain the repo anyway)
19:04:29 <nirik> pingou: true.
19:04:51 <nirik> will close out in a minute if nothing more.
19:05:43 <nirik> Thanks for coming everyone!

17:04:01 <dgilmore> #topic init process
17:04:03 <pjones> hello.
17:04:06 <mattdm> magic!
17:04:06 <mitr> Hello
17:04:08 <kylem> bueller.
17:04:08 <nirik> morning
17:04:26 <abadger1999> Hola
17:04:27 <dgilmore> looks like we have enough folks
17:04:31 <mattdm> I have a hard stop at 10 before the hour, btw.
17:04:33 <dgilmore> lets get started
17:04:40 * jreznik is around
17:04:45 <dgilmore> mattdm: its a short agenda
17:05:22 <dgilmore> #topic #1310 Reconsidering rpcbind's exception allowing it to start by default
17:05:26 <dgilmore> .fesco 1310
17:05:27 <dgilmore> https://fedorahosted.org/fesco/ticket/1310
17:05:28 <zodbot> dgilmore: #1310 (Reconsidering rpcbind's exception allowing it to start by default) – FESCo - https://fedorahosted.org/fesco/ticket/1310
17:06:55 <dgilmore> not sure where we are with this
17:07:10 <nirik> we were waiting for some feedback from steved..
17:07:18 <nirik> which doesn't seem to have happened.
17:07:28 <dgilmore> yeah
17:07:48 <nirik> but if it's needed for the client, I'm inclined to leave it autostarting (at least for now)
17:08:00 <dgilmore> i know it is needed for the client
17:08:04 <mattdm> the comment about it being socket-activated seems like a balancing factor.
17:08:13 <abadger1999> s/autostarting/start by default/ ?
17:08:19 <mattdm> that is, it's not _really_ autostarted unless needed?
17:08:27 <dgilmore> The question seems to be can rpcbind be started automatically when you go to mount a nfsv3 share
17:08:28 <abadger1999> I think steved asked whether it would start on-demand.
17:08:37 <mitr> mattdm: From a security/risk limitation perspective socket activation makes no differene.
17:09:09 <mattdm> mitr true. but from a resource consumption one it does.
17:10:11 * abadger1999 notes that socket activation is something that fesco should be addressing in its "autostart" list but currently hasn't set precedent by doing so.
17:10:32 <mattdm> abadger1999: yeah
17:11:15 <dgilmore> I guess someone need to test if rpcbind starts when needed, and if it doesn't can it be made to do so
17:12:03 <mitr> Do I read steved's note right that on the client, we need rpcbind running but not necessarily network reachable? Having the default localhost-only but enabled would be much more attractive to me.
17:12:24 <mattdm> mitr yes, I think that's correct
17:13:07 <amluto> IIUC the client needs nfs-lock.service (unless -o nolock is set), and nfs-lock.service requires rpcbind.service
17:13:19 <dgilmore> So the question is will this type of network activity (remote and local) cause rpcbind to start before its needed? If the answer is yes, then good I will be more than willing to try.
17:13:39 <amluto> so the only likely regression i can think of is that maybe omitting -o nolock behaves better if rpcbind is running (but not nfs-lock.service) than if rpcbind isn't running
17:14:45 <nirik> so, wait another week for steved? assign one of us to just do the testing?
17:15:20 <dgilmore> lets wait one week, for further feedback, if none then we get someone to do some testing and provide it
17:15:55 <abadger1999> And be sure to comment on the ticket what we're wanting to know :-)
17:15:59 <nirik> +1
17:16:07 <dgilmore> abadger1999: already writing it up
17:16:10 <mattdm> okay, sure. doesn't seem urgent
17:16:11 <abadger1999> Cool.
17:16:12 <mattdm> +1
17:16:54 * kylem can do the testing.
17:17:18 <kylem> i can also harass steved tomorrow.
17:17:23 <dgilmore> kylem: okay
17:17:30 <mattdm> kylem: do both! :)
17:17:41 <kylem> i'll update the ticket before the next meeting with whatever the result is.
17:17:57 * jwb shows up
17:17:59 <dgilmore> #action kylem to test and harass steved to find out if things can be made to work for nfsv3
17:17:59 <abadger1999> Thanks
17:18:13 <dgilmore> kylem: thanks i wont add anything to the ticket then
17:18:23 <kylem> ok. no problemo.
17:18:30 <dgilmore> lets move on
17:18:31 <dgilmore> #topic #1311 Disable syscall auditing by default
17:18:31 <dgilmore> .fesco 1311
17:18:33 <dgilmore> https://fedorahosted.org/fesco/ticket/1311
17:18:33 <zodbot> dgilmore: #1311 (Disable syscall auditing by default) – FESCo - https://fedorahosted.org/fesco/ticket/1311
17:19:31 <dgilmore> are waiting further info here on the actual performance impact
17:19:42 <dgilmore> I think we are waiting further info here on the actual performance impact
17:19:44 <mattdm> I got some feedback from steve grubb
17:19:56 <mattdm> he, in turn, is waiting for the performance team to do some testing
17:20:35 <dgilmore> okay, so wait a week for more feedback?
17:20:41 <dgilmore> or should we wait longer?
17:20:53 <mattdm> I'll ping and ask the rough timeline
17:21:21 <dgilmore> okay lets update the ticket when we know when we should expect feedback so we can skip until then
17:21:36 <mattdm> however, he did say that it's probably going to be on a slower schedule than fedora might like
17:21:57 <kylem> nobody has made a particularly good case why it should stay on...
17:22:12 <kylem> besides "it helps sometimes"
17:22:32 * nirik nods.
17:22:44 <dgilmore> indeed
17:22:47 <kylem> then again, if a handful of ns per syscall is really a performance concern, you can turn it off yourself anyway.
17:22:51 <pjones> with the counterpoint "it clearly hurts sometimes"
17:22:55 <kylem> pjones, indeed.
17:23:01 <mattdm> kylem correct. I think the case is basically: if it's on in fedora, people are more likely to notice when something goes wrong and we get this feedback, which helps for the few people for whom it is vital
17:23:03 <kylem> amluto makes a good point wrt security too.
17:23:03 <pjones> and "it doesn't seem to be maintained, so it will hurt more in the future"
17:23:22 <kylem> (then again, the same is true for a lot of kernel code.)
17:24:03 <amluto> this particular piece of kernel code is unusual in that seccomp can't protect against it
17:24:29 <pjones> kylem: yeah, but not much of the code you're referencing is on /every/ syscall path
17:24:34 <mattdm> And, from my point of view... I appreciate that role of fedora in general, but I don't think that very many people are actually using it in fedora in a way that really helps
17:24:38 <kylem> indeed. frankly, i turn it off anyway, so i'm +1.
17:24:45 <kylem> ;-)
17:24:46 <mitr> pjones: The 32-on-64 case is AFAIK being actively addressed right now; the code is maintained but nobody is actively looking for bugs every week
17:25:00 <nirik> if we want to turn it off, we should be clear which way we want to turn it off. ;)
17:25:02 <pjones> mitr: well, that's some consolation.
17:25:30 <amluto> mitr: what 32-on-64 case? is there yet another bug i don't know about?
17:25:35 <mitr> nirik: yeah; I'd be fairly strongly against kicking it out of the kernel; the default rule to disable it for all processes would be quite fine
17:25:50 * nirik nods. Just need to be clear.
17:25:58 <mitr> amluto: I'd expect everything to be discussed on linux-audit (but I'm not subscribed there)
17:26:03 <abadger1999> mitr: +1
17:26:44 <mitr> I'm still not _thrilled_ with disabling it, and dwalsh does say that it is somewhat useful, but nobody has been too strongly fighting for leaving it on either, so...
17:27:26 * nirik is ok with the disable for all processes config option.
17:27:34 * pjones is too
17:28:53 <mattdm> Is there a way we can turn it off in the cloud image which allows auditd to not be installed/running?
17:29:21 <jwb> isn't that what nirik just mentioned?
17:29:27 <mitr> mattdm: You need to run an auditctl command (i.e. have the package installed) but that doesn't require auditd running
17:29:41 <dgilmore> im okay with turning off for all processes, especially if we document a way to turn it on for the use cases where it is useful
17:29:48 <mitr> mattdm: That might be deviating from the default setup somewhat but AFAIK is fairly feasible
17:31:07 <amluto> mattdm: if nothing has ever enabled audit (that is, auditctl -e 1 or the equivalent never happens after boot), then syscall auditing will be off
17:31:17 <amluto> I think that, if auditd is not installed, then that's what happens
17:31:59 <mattdm> Okay -- I thought someone told me otherwise. But I may just be confused. This is definitely not an area of expertise for me -- we never had to audit things at this level at my sysadmin jobs :)
17:32:21 <dgilmore> should we vote on something or wait?
17:32:36 <pjones> mitr: that might be an argument for splitting the package into a -daemon and -tools or somesuch
17:32:47 <kylem> well, i assume we're not going to change f20, so i don't see harm in deferring the vote another week for rawhide.
17:33:02 <dgilmore> we wont change f20
17:33:15 <mitr> dgilmore: If we could expect to hear back from the perf team soon enough, I don't see harm in waiting (but then I don't see much harm in just flipping it now and perhaps flipping it back later)
17:33:18 <dgilmore> lets see if some magic data comes back soon
17:33:28 <mitr> pjones: It might; I'm not so intent on saving every 100 kb
17:33:40 <mattdm> mitr, pjones yes, it is small.
17:34:07 <abadger1999> mitr: I feel the same as you.
17:35:04 <mattdm> I'm +1 to mitr's parenthetical proposal
17:35:24 <mattdm> flip it now, and leave open the possibility of flipping it back if more data comes in
17:35:32 <abadger1999> +1 to mitr's proposal as well.
17:35:42 * nirik is +1 too
17:35:53 <mitr> Count me as +1 to either :)
17:36:36 <dgilmore> #proposal turn off syscall auditing for all processes by default. we will reevaluate when we get infor from the perf team
17:36:38 <pjones> Might be worth flipping it now and seeing if we get any anecdata in return.
17:36:46 <pjones> dgilmore: +1
17:36:47 <dgilmore> #proposal turn off syscall auditing for all processes by default. we will reevaluate when we get info from the perf team
17:36:56 <mattdm> dgilmore: +1
17:37:00 * dgilmore fixes typo
17:37:02 <nirik> dgilmore: +1
17:37:04 <abadger1999> dgilmore: +1
17:37:37 <dgilmore> since mitr did not actually put up a proposal
17:37:52 <dgilmore> we need one more +1 i think
17:37:57 <mitr> dgilmore: +1
17:38:03 <dgilmore> though i am +1 to my proposal
17:38:39 <dgilmore> #agreed turn off syscall auditing for all processes by default. we will reevaluate when we get info from the perf team (6-0-0)
17:38:52 <dgilmore> #topic #1312 F22 System Wide Change: Replace Yum With DNF - http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/ReplaceYumWithDNF

17:39:18 <dgilmore> didnt we approve this last week?
17:39:27 <nirik> yep
17:39:35 <mattdm> yeah there was something about asking the dnf maintainers here to talk more
17:39:44 <mattdm> but I don't actually have anything more to add :)
17:39:52 <mattdm> I said what I think
17:40:08 <mattdm> and after the devel mailing list I think it could use a nice calm rest
17:40:31 <dgilmore> okay, so lets get the ticket updated, actually invite dnf guys if we have questions for them
17:40:58 <dgilmore> #action dgilmore will look back at last weeks minutes and update the ticket appropriately
17:41:14 <dgilmore> #topic Next week's chair
17:41:24 <dgilmore> who wants to run the meeting next week?
17:41:33 <nirik> I've not done it in a while, I can
17:42:21 <dgilmore> #action nirik to run next weeks meeting
17:42:27 <dgilmore> #topic Open Floor
17:42:32 <mattdm> So.... https://fedorahosted.org/fesco/ticket/1317
17:42:36 <dgilmore> anyone have anything?
17:42:39 <mattdm> the election...
17:42:51 <nirik> yeah, we should move that forward
17:42:56 <mattdm> Last week, sgallagh tasked me with sending out an announcement as FPL
17:43:15 * kylem will be without internet in the wild and miss the meetings in 2 weeks and 3 weeks. apologies in advance.
17:43:15 <mattdm> but I'd like the details of what exactly is to be announced worked out :)
17:44:10 <mattdm> I'm happy to help and to send messages and lend voice and etc., but would someone else be able to drive this?
17:44:14 <nirik> proposal: nominations from announcement time to 2014-07-07, election from 2014-07-07 to 2014-07-14
17:44:28 <kylem> what is everyones thoughts about me stepping down to let notting's seat be re-elected?
17:44:40 <nirik> kylem: you can do so if you like. ;)
17:44:49 <mattdm> kylem If you want to, do it sooner rather than later :)
17:44:50 <abadger1999> yeah, entirely your choice to me.
17:44:55 <dgilmore> kylem: your choice
17:45:10 <pjones> what they all said.
17:45:11 <kylem> ok. i'll do that then. ;-)
17:45:21 <nirik> ok, so 3 seats?
17:45:23 <pjones> Alright, then we're electing 3 seats.
17:45:39 <kylem> sounds right to me.
17:45:48 <pjones> nirik: +1 to that timeline
17:45:58 <dgilmore> nirik: +1
17:46:04 <kylem> +1
17:46:29 <nirik> the last election we didn't do a questionare... we could do a townhall tho if desired. Not sure how usefull they have been.
17:46:38 <abadger1999> nirik: +1
17:46:58 <mattdm> nirik We should have some standard questions for the questionnaire
17:47:46 <mitr> nirik: The townhalls were always useful to me; knowing about a long-term contributor doesn't always mean knowing their thoughts on the questions of the day.
17:48:13 <nirik> mattdm: we could, but in the past we asked for people to ask, and got very little response...
17:48:16 <mattdm> I can be +1 to the timeline, but it might be nice to have another week for publicity and letting potential candidates think about it.
17:48:19 <nirik> we could do a townhall next week?
17:48:23 <dgilmore> i know last election cycle the townhalls didnt work out
17:48:26 <mattdm> nirik: yeah that's a whole problem with the whole thing.
17:48:34 <dgilmore> due to devconf and people travelling
17:48:37 <mattdm> ftr I tried to give some but I put them in the wrong place :)
17:49:04 <mattdm> in any case, I need to go.
17:49:47 <dgilmore> thanks mattdm
17:49:49 <kylem> thanks matt.
17:49:54 <nirik> ok.
17:50:12 <dgilmore> should we reuse the questions from last cycle?
17:50:33 <jreznik> any volunteer for elections wrangler? while talking about elections, maybe I missed it
17:50:55 <dgilmore> jreznik: not that I know of
17:51:05 <nirik> I've not seen one, but would be great to have one to nag everyone to keep things moving
17:52:17 <dgilmore> anyone want to volunteer to run the elections?
17:52:19 <jreznik> for special elections, it's maybe not as much needed as for standard ones
17:52:23 <dgilmore> abadger1999: ^
17:52:38 <jreznik> but it's always to have someone you know he's responsible for to avoid mess
17:53:08 * abadger1999 doesn't want to but is willing to handle the technical aspects (setting up the electrion in the election app and getting the results to the person making the announcement)
17:53:20 <abadger1999> Since I'm not running I can do that :-)
17:54:11 <dgilmore> abadger1999: so you will be the wrangler?
17:54:49 * dgilmore needs to run in a minute
17:54:50 <abadger1999> dgilmore: no. I'll handle the technical side of it.
17:54:57 <dgilmore> abadger1999: okay just clarifying
17:55:10 <abadger1999> not the schedule/townhall/etc side.
17:55:36 <jreznik> I can help with schedule, as I always do it
17:55:40 <dgilmore> so we need a wrangler, we need to set a schedule and we need to work out questionaire, townhall details
17:56:13 <jreznik> but I never did that questionaire/townhall stuff
17:56:28 <dgilmore> jreznik: want to learn?>
17:57:07 <jreznik> dgilmore: why not? it's probably going to be easier if I do it whole with abadger1999 to setup bits
17:57:25 <dgilmore> #info jreznik to be election wrangler
17:57:42 <dgilmore> anything else we need to sort out here today?
17:57:46 <jreznik> what's the timeframe for it? asap?
17:57:55 <dgilmore> jreznik: yep
17:58:37 * nirik notes we sort of agreed on a schedule above... although mattdm wanted perhaps another week of lead time
17:59:06 <dgilmore> nirik: can you take over the last bit of the meeting please, i really need to run
17:59:23 <jreznik> nirik: ah, ok I see it
17:59:40 <nirik> dgilmore: sure. I think we are almost done...
17:59:45 <nirik> any other open floor business?
17:59:52 <jreznik> I'll take a look tomorrow, will update the ticket with proposal
18:00:01 <jreznik> nirik: one topic - schedule
18:00:04 <abadger1999> another week would be fine for me too.
18:00:05 <dgilmore> jreznik: nirik: thanks
18:00:15 * nirik would be ok moving the elections out another week too.
18:00:21 <kylem> indeed, i'm fine with pushing all dates in mattdm's original proposal out a week
18:00:42 <jreznik> we are still in "no earlier than" in the schedule and folks started pinging me if change freeze/branch is happening for real or they have more time
18:01:01 <nirik> jreznik: Yeah, I thought we finalized that a while ago, but perhaps I am wrong.
18:01:07 <mitr> jreznik: prooposal: s/no earlier than //g
18:01:12 <nirik> mitr: +1
18:01:28 <jreznik> it makes sense
18:01:32 <abadger1999> at least for change freeze and branch that makes sense.
18:02:08 <jreznik> abadger1999: well, we can remove "no earlier than" and continue with standard slipage from this point
18:02:19 <abadger1999> really.. we could slip no matter what the schedule says so "no earlier than" is just telling people that hte schedule is more fluid than normal this time around.
18:02:28 <abadger1999> jreznik: yeah. agreed.
18:02:46 <abadger1999> mitr: +1 to your proposal
18:02:47 <jreznik> maybe I just missed we agreed it's really that final, I consider it as final, just want final confirmation
18:03:38 <nirik> more votes please? thats +3 assuming mitr is for his proposal. ;)
18:03:45 * mitr is +1 for the record
18:03:54 <kylem> +1
18:04:00 <pjones> eh, +1 I guess.
18:04:49 <nirik> #agreed Will finalize current schedule and remove 'no earlier than' from milestones. (+5,0,0)
18:04:55 <nirik> anything else for open floor?
18:05:04 <jreznik> thanks!
18:06:30 <nirik> ok, if nothing else will close meeting in a random indeterminate time around a minute from now.
18:07:08 <abadger1999> :-)
18:07:11 <kylem> heh
18:07:23 <nirik> ok, thanks for coming everyone!
18:07:26 <nirik> #endmeeting
Thanks to everyone who attended and participated in our
Weekly Community Meeting today. :)
The points which stand out as most important/interesting are:
* GlusterFS 3.4.5 beta1 tarball and rpms to be created
soon (next few days likely)
This is pretty much GlusterFS 3.4.4-2 with the
memory leak fix backported by Martin Svec
* GlusterFS 3.6 feature freeze date is not far away
now -> 5th July
* Automatic NetBSD build testing is almost working
* Automatic FreeBSD build testing will be set up in
next few weeks
* James Shubin has been working on btrfs pieces for
puppet-gluster. He'd really like people to test
it out:
https://github.com/purpleidea/puppet-gluster/tree/feat/btrfs

18:13:38 * lmacken
18:13:44 <danofsatx-work> and there's the beep...
18:13:46 <nirik> any new folks around who want to introduce themselves? or apprentices with questions, comments or items to note?
18:14:10 * roshi is here
18:14:18 <janeznemanic> hi
18:14:20 * randomuser is milling around
18:14:30 <roshi> just lurking trying to get a better understanding of our infra :)
18:14:48 <roshi> learn what I can about how we do things on the infra side
18:15:06 <oddshocks> oh god
18:15:07 <oddshocks> why
18:15:09 <roshi> :)
18:15:20 <oddshocks> 2x netsplit combo
18:15:44 <oddshocks> lost kevin and patrick again
18:15:46 * roshi thought you were meaning "oh god why?" to checking out our infra
18:15:56 <oddshocks> roshi: oh no, it's not that bad, I promise ;)
18:16:21 <oddshocks> we just lost about 30 connections to netsplit for the second time in 5 mins
18:16:22 <roshi> :D
18:16:28 <oddshocks> same ones
18:16:39 <nirik> ursabot: ping
18:16:39 <ursabot> pong
18:16:39 <oddshocks> and they're back
18:16:39 <nirik> yeah...
18:16:42 <nirik> freenode isn't too staable today
18:16:56 <nirik> #topic Applications status / discussion
18:17:00 * tflink shows up late, apologies
18:17:01 <nirik> any applications news?
18:17:07 <threebean> https://apps.fedoraproject.org/github2fedmsg/
18:17:20 <threebean> pushed that out this past week.
18:17:21 <nirik> #info fedoauth is updated in stg. Please test it against as many sites as you can... it's going to production this weekend.
18:17:42 <nirik> threebean: pretty cool. Is there any kind of overview of projects connected to it? or it's all per user?
18:18:03 <threebean> all per user, but we could make an overview dashboard thing if it would be useful
18:18:21 <nirik> just my curiosity, dunno how important that is.
18:18:44 * threebean nods
18:18:58 <oddshocks> Fedimg is making its strides! Working out some libcloud issues with #libcloud, but things are looking good! Got all the fedmsg meta code merged in to the fedmsg meta infra repo... docs started on RTFD... makin' progress. that's all for me
18:19:20 <nirik> oddshocks: cool.
18:19:49 <threebean> oddshocks: your fedmsg.meta stuff is released too and on its way to the updates-testing yum repos
18:19:52 <nirik> oddshocks: oh, I wonder... do we want to look at having it upload to the infrastructure private cloud too? dunno how useful it would be, but we could look into that if it is.
18:20:23 <oddshocks> threebean: awesom!
18:20:34 <oddshocks> nirik: I 100% do
18:20:58 <nirik> should just need an account that can upload I would suspect.
18:22:10 <nirik> any other app news?
18:22:10 <oddshocks> nirik: our goal is definitely automatic uploads to external AND internal cloud providers. I was originally uploading to our internal Fedora FTP server too but I was told that is The Wrong Thing To Do and that I should just have nightly builds uploaded to the internal fedora FTP server, but I am 100% down for internal cloud image uploads
18:22:35 <oddshocks> nirik: but any info anyone can get me on getting the images on our internal cloud server is super-helpful
18:22:38 <oddshocks> and can be done with ease
18:22:42 <oddshocks> :)
18:23:04 <nirik> oddshocks: sure, we can talk out of meeting on it sometime... if we do nightlies we should also expire/delete older ones (ie, I don't think we want to keep them forever)
18:23:17 <oddshocks> Definitely. Sounds good.
18:23:56 <nirik> #info copr upgrade also coming up tomorrow. There will be a short outage.
18:25:03 * tflink doesn't know if this counts as application status (or if it's too far out) but we're hoping to get taskotron farther deployed this week and next
18:25:10 <nirik> cool.
18:25:57 <nirik> tflink: oh, there's an issue with resultsdb-stg01... I tried to put it in the stg group, but it can't talk to stg fas. ;( I have a RHIT ticket to fix that...
18:26:08 <nirik> we do want the *stg* qa stuff to be in infra stg right?
18:26:20 <nirik> (for fas, and talking to proxy01.stg and koji01.stg, etc?)
18:27:30 <tflink> nirik: resultsdb doesn't have auth right now, so fas isn't a huge issue
18:27:49 <nirik> well, for local accounts/sudo
18:27:57 <tflink> yeah, I wasn't thinking about that
18:28:13 <tflink> I'm fine eihter way, stg means that my yubikey doesn't work but I can deal with that
18:28:13 <nirik> I can get it sorted out. I would expect we want them to interact with stg
18:28:22 <nirik> ok
18:28:39 <tflink> unless the 2fa issue with stg fas was worked out
18:28:41 <nirik> hopefully the proxy stuff works for you now.
18:28:49 <tflink> er 2fa with yubikey and stg fas
18:29:02 <nirik> I'm not sure which issue? wanting one yubikey to work with the same slot for both?
18:29:15 <tflink> for a while, yubikey couldn't be used with fas stg for 2fa
18:29:28 <tflink> I was told to use google authenticator instead
18:29:40 <nirik> huh, I haven't tried, but I can...
18:30:07 <tflink> I hooked the load testing setup up to resultsdb-stg for a test
18:30:21 <tflink> so it'll get tested out more shortly, even if the names don't quite match :)
18:30:38 <tflink> ie, taskotron-dev.fp.o working with taskotron.stg.fp.o/resultsdb
18:30:42 <nirik> ok.
18:31:25 <nirik> #topic Sysadmin status / discussion
18:31:33 <nirik> ok, lets see on the sysadmin side...
18:31:58 <nirik> I have all our ducks in a row finally for rhel7 setup... so we will be setting up kickstarts and moving to rhel7 instances soon where we can.
18:32:32 <nirik> We will have to see where we are application stack wise before moving any of the application instances over.
18:32:44 <nirik> and we also talked about python3 sometime.
18:32:45 * oddshocks nods
18:33:04 <lorddemon> \me supee
18:33:34 <nirik> but a lot of simpler stuff can move to 7 sooner... like download servers, virthosts, the mailman instances (so we can deploy hyperkitty with rhel7 instead of f19)
18:33:55 * mpduty is here
18:34:01 <ootbro> nirik: does it look like things are back on track?
18:34:04 <ootbro> I'm still hanging on
18:34:04 <ootbro> roshi: I'm starting work on getting that documentation created
18:34:11 <ootbro> \ still watching over the meeting attempting to start
18:34:28 <nirik> ootbro: we started and have had a few minutes with no net split. ;)
18:34:45 <roshi> which documentation ootbro?
18:34:51 * roshi doesn't recognize your nick
18:35:07 <ootbro> nirik: thanks.. I've been watching the lines scroll past here
18:35:16 <nirik> I've gotten ansible on lockbox using controlpersist and ssh pipelining, so playbook runs should be much faster. This is using a openssh scratch build with that support.
18:35:25 <ootbro> roshi: documentation on how the Fedora infrastructure is laid out
18:35:43 <roshi> ah, sweet
18:36:01 <roshi> sorry, I ask a lot of people for documentation on things and can't keep it all straight in my head :)
18:36:01 <nirik> #info rhel7 setup almost in place to start moving machines to it. Will work on kickstarts next week.
18:36:18 <nirik> #info ansible using ssh pipeline/controlpersist on lockbox, should be much faste.r
18:36:24 <ootbro> not a problem..... I picked up the project a few weeks ago, with the announcement on here
18:36:44 <nirik> #info smooge and nirik will be heading out to phx2 datacenter in late july... 22nd to 25th
18:37:48 <nirik> #topic nagios recap
18:38:19 <nirik> ?tiny https://admin.fedoraproject.org/nagios/cgi-bin//summary.cgi?report=1&displa…
18:38:20 <ursabot> nirik: http://tinyurl.com/q8j48o9
18:38:32 <nirik> our bug alerter is virthost-comm02 this week.
18:38:46 <nirik> it's got some kind of disk issue going on thats making it slow.
18:38:59 <nirik> we are waiting for it to finish raid check and then likely will try a reboot.
18:39:36 <tflink> nirik: when were you thinking the reboot would be?
18:39:47 <nirik> tflink: not sure yet... this raid check is taking forever. ;(
18:40:04 <nirik> [==================>..] check = 91.9% (447933184/487298048) finish=653.5min speed=1003K/sec
18:40:04 <smooge> I think we will be rebooting it before the raid check is done
18:40:12 <smooge> oh wait
18:40:18 <nirik> it's getting close
18:40:18 <smooge> thats different from when I looked
18:40:28 <nirik> tflink: so, perhaps tomorrow?
18:40:36 <smooge> that is 1 MB/sec on a bunch of 3 GB/sec disks
18:40:45 <smooge> of course they are busy
18:40:56 <tflink> ok, I think I have some stuff on there that's not set up to rebound on reboot so please let me know when you reboot it
18:40:56 <nirik> yeah, it's definitely not right. ;)
18:41:20 <nirik> tflink: can do... we also need to coordinate with arm folks as the arm koji instance is on that virthost too
18:41:39 <nirik> #topic Upcoming Tasks/Items
18:41:39 <nirik> https://apps.fedoraproject.org/calendar/list/infrastructure/
18:41:56 <nirik> anyhing upcoming anyone would like to note or schedule?
18:42:47 <nirik> #topic Open Floor
18:42:53 <nirik> anyone have items for open floor?
18:44:16 <nirik> ok, if nothing else will end the meeting in a minute, hopefully before the next net.split. ;)
18:44:24 <threebean> :)
18:44:47 <danofsatx-work> my email issues are fixed, and I'll be RHCE certified next Friday ;)
18:44:59 <nirik> danofsatx-work: congrats
18:46:00 <nirik> ok, thanks for coming everyone. Do continue in #fedora-admin, #fedora-apps and #fedora-noc. ;)

17:00:22 <nirik> #topic init process
17:00:22 <zodbot> The meeting name has been set to 'irc-support-sig'
17:00:30 <nirik> who all is around for a irc support sig meeting?
17:00:56 * Southern_Gentlem
17:00:57 * nirik will wait for 5m for folks to drag in.
17:01:47 * N3LRX
17:01:50 <vwbusguy> vwbusguy

17:04:15 <roshi> free bacon?
17:04:15 * vwbusguy takes it all violently
17:04:19 <N3LRX> sleepy crowd today
17:04:37 <nirik> ok, lets go ahead and start...
17:04:44 <nirik> #topic Week in review
17:04:58 <nirik> anything to note from the previous week or two? any common bugs or problems people are seeing?
17:05:12 <nirik> it's been very quiet overall, which I guess makes sense, since f20 came out a while ago...
17:06:11 <Southern_Gentlem> Updated F20-200609 live isos are available at http://tinyurl.com/Live-respins
17:06:15 <vwbusguy> nice
17:06:31 <nirik> cool. any problems spinning them up these days?
17:07:32 <Southern_Gentlem> nope and i even was able to even do a install dvd re-spin
17:07:50 <nirik> nice.
17:07:57 <vwbusguy> good, now that we have that stable, we'll wait for Fedora.next to mess it all up ;-)
17:08:10 <nirik> got to have some exciting times. ;)
17:08:14 <nirik> #topic new extban use
17:08:15 <nirik> http://blog.freenode.net/2014/06/new-extban-j/
17:08:25 <nirik> so, freenode added a new ban type...
17:08:43 <nirik> basically it's a way to say "when someone is banned on channela, also ban them on channelb"
17:08:57 <Southern_Gentlem> at this point its a nice tool if it is needed, but i really dont think we need it
17:09:00 <nirik> I don't know if we want to use this between fedora and fedora-social, or just keep it in mind
17:09:41 <nirik> yeah, we don't often have problems, but every once in a while...
17:10:00 <N3LRX> I think it should be an as needed tool. I doubt it's really necessary in most cases.
17:10:31 <nirik> alright, fair enough... just wanted to bring it up so everyone knows about it.
17:10:41 <nirik> #info will keep it in mind, but no plans to use it currently.
17:10:52 <nirik> #topic revisit antispammeta

17:11:07 <nirik> EvilBob reminded me that we were going to review the antispammeta bot thing...
17:11:47 <nirik> personally, I don't find it very useful, but I also don't mind it being around.
17:12:17 <N3LRX> I think it's a useful tool. It's not perfect but it does help at getting attention when something comes up. Even if it's a false alarm or two.
17:12:49 <Southern_Gentlem> antispammeta is just another tool and at this point its ok
17:13:40 <nirik> ok, sounds like we keep it around then? other thoughts?
17:14:24 * vwbusguy is indifferent
17:14:56 <nirik> alright, so lets keep it around until/unless we want to revisit.
17:15:04 <nirik> #info will keep it around for the time being
17:15:08 <nirik> #topic Open Floor
17:15:12 <nirik> any items for open floor?
17:16:18 <N3LRX> http://antispammeta.net/syntax.txt commands for the bot.. Sorry, a bit late.
17:17:11 * nirik will close things out in a minute if nothing else.
17:18:03 <nirik> Alright. Thanks for coming everyone!

Thanks to everyone for attending. Some pretty important stuff
was covered today:
* GlusterFS 3.4.4-2 RPM's are being created at the moment.
They fix an important bug in Gluster 3.4.x series, and
everyone is encouraged to upgrade when they're available
* Several bugs in GlusterFS 3.5.x series have been
identified recently, and are being worked on presently
* The Feature Freeze date for GlusterFS 3.6 is being
pushed back by two weeks, to give priority to the bug
fixing for 3.5.x

18:03:33 <nirik> #topic New folks introductions and Apprentice tasks
18:03:42 <nirik> ok, any new folks like to introduce themselves?
18:03:47 * danofsatx-work shuffles back into the corner
18:03:48 <lalit_> Hello everyone. My name is Lalit Khattar. I am a GSoC student this year and I am working on waartaa under mentorship of rtnpro and sayan. http://waartaa.com
18:03:52 <nirik> or apprentices with questions/comments/ideas?
18:03:58 <webpigeon> o/ lalit_
18:04:02 <lalit_> I am attending this meeting first time :)
18:04:08 <oddshocks> lalit_: welcome!
18:04:11 * abadger1999 here
18:04:13 <nirik> welcome lalit_
18:04:15 <lalit_> oddshocks, thanks :)
18:04:16 <threebean> lalit_: welcome :)
18:04:25 * abompard is here with pingou
18:04:32 * pingou confirms
18:04:34 <banas> Hi, I'm Sarup, first time here. I'm doing a GSoC as well :) I kinda tinker around more in the design team.
18:04:39 <webpigeon> o/ abompard
18:04:40 <abompard> (yes, in the same room, but don't get any ideas)
18:04:49 <banas> .fasinfo sarupbanskota
18:04:50 <zodbot> banas: User: sarupbanskota, Name: Sarup Banskota, email: sbanskota08(a)gmail.com, Creation: 2013-03-28, IRC Nick: banas, Timezone: Asia/Kolkata, Locale: en, GPG key ID: , Status: active
18:04:53 <zodbot> banas: Approved Groups: designteam cla_done cla_fpca
18:04:57 <danofsatx-work> I am unable to respond to this month's apprentice interest email due to an ongoing problem with outlook.com handling alias addresses
18:05:02 <oddshocks> banas: welcome as well
18:05:17 <banas> oddshocks: thanks!
18:05:17 <nirik> danofsatx-work: noted. :(
18:05:42 <ootbro> I'm back from my vacation (feeling a little crispy) and about ready to dive into my FP project.
18:05:49 * abadger1999 erases SciFi ideas of downloading consciousness to a shared body from memory.
18:05:55 * danofsatx-work needs to figure out how to send from @fp.o address
18:06:00 <nirik> welcome banas. lalit_ / banas: how far along is GSoC ? has it reached midpoint yet?
18:06:20 * pingou provides cafeine to abadger1999
18:06:29 <lalit_> I have completed first version of my first two major tasks.
18:06:37 <lalit_> My first task was to create a search API and an interface for searching irc logs collected by waartaa backend. I completed that task last week. Here is the blog post:
18:06:38 <lalit_> http://lalitkhattar.wordpress.com/2014/06/04/implementation-of-chat-log-bro…
18:06:40 * bwood09 needs caffeine and the soda machine won't dispense any :/
18:06:49 <oddshocks> Last year GSoC went on through August I think
18:06:56 * oddshocks worked with a GSoC student last year
18:07:17 <bwood09> stupid thing keeps declining my NFC payment -_-
18:07:35 <nirik> lalit_: alright.
18:07:46 <banas> nirik: not midpoint yet, although the work on GG is going decent. Rohit has moved to a new library for the git stuff, I've started the redesign. Some updates on my last blogposts, pending ones on the next: http://sarupbanskota.github.io/fedora/2014/06/07/init-redesigning-glitterga…
18:07:56 <lalit_> My second task was to create a p2p(peer to peer) video chat in waartaa. I completed that task yesterday. Blog post: http://lalitkhattar.wordpress.com/2014/06/11/p2p-video-chat-gsoc-week-3/
18:08:30 <nirik> cool. Any other new folks or apprentices with questions?
18:08:33 <nirik> banas: great!
18:08:40 <nirik> lalit_: interesting. webrtc is up and coming. ;)
18:09:17 <ootbro> I'm back from my vacation (feeling a little crispy) and about ready to dive into my FP project.
18:09:34 <banas> I guess GG is now in the stage where newcomers have come in and are doing cool stuff the authors don't understand right away :D
18:10:00 <banas> btw, hi to lalit_ as well!
18:10:05 <lalit_> nirik, yep. I am glad I got a chance to work on it :)
18:10:14 <lalit_> banas, hello
18:10:20 <hammad> hello, my name is hammad, A Gsoc student working on fedora College project. This week I was working on the API for the product, Almost done with that ..
18:10:38 * oddshocks waves to hammad
18:10:59 <nirik> ootbro: sounds good. :)
18:11:00 <banas> hi hammad!
18:11:21 * adimania sees a lot of GSoC students :)
18:11:28 <webpigeon> indeedy
18:11:44 <nirik> yep.
18:11:50 <ootbro> nirik: I just sent a reply to your reply.... can wait until after we're done here.
18:12:00 <nirik> ootbro: ok, haven't had a chance to read it yet, but will. ;)
18:12:09 <ootbro> not a problem
18:12:15 <nirik> ok, moving along then...
18:12:17 <nirik> #topic Applications status / discussion
18:12:27 * pingou got some releases out
18:12:28 <nirik> any applications news/plans/discussion this week?
18:12:32 <pingou> new pkgdb2, new pkgdb-cli
18:12:41 <pingou> new fedocal coming up
18:12:43 <pingou> new elections
18:12:59 <pingou> pkgdb2 is deployed, so is elections, pkgdb-cli is pending for -testing
18:13:12 <nirik> and all these are just bugfixes right, no api breaks or anything?
18:13:33 <pingou> yes
18:13:51 <pingou> api improvements but no api backward compatibility
18:13:58 <pingou> the rest is bugfixes in the UI
18:14:04 <threebean> pingou: nice work :)
18:14:10 <nirik> cool.
18:14:14 <oddshocks> Lots of progress on fedimg. Should easily have automatic AMI creation and registration in all EC2 regions for every successful image build that passes through Koji done by our next meeting, if not by tomorrow.
18:14:20 <pingou> fedocal coming up either later this week or early next week
18:14:26 <nirik> abompard: hey, since you are around, where are we on hyperkitty? ;)
18:14:28 <oddshocks> up next is GCE, HP, and Rackspace
18:14:34 <oddshocks> among others
18:14:47 * tflink has a question about Taskotron deployment, not sure if it's good meeting material or if it's better to discuss later
18:15:03 <tflink> mostly about timeline and how long things should be in stg
18:15:05 <nirik> tflink: either way.
18:15:24 <threebean> datanommer got an update in production with a bugfix this week.
18:15:35 <nirik> well, depends on the scope of changes... but of course with no production changes are infinite. ;)
18:15:39 <tflink> I'm wondering how long Taskotron should be in infra staging before we can start creating a production instance
18:15:41 <pingou> threebean: and fmn got 2 releases \ó/
18:15:43 <abompard> nirik: lots of improvements around hyperkitty these days, for example in the mailman-bundler script
18:15:45 <threebean> pingou: true
18:16:03 <nirik> abompard: can we move over a few production lists then?
18:16:03 <abompard> which should make it much easier for people to install and test mailman+hyperkitty+postoriys
18:16:15 <abompard> lots of stability fixes too
18:16:50 <threebean> oddshocks: as you get closer to having something releasable you want to try out in infra, take a look at filing a "request for resources" ticket - https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Request_For_Resources
18:17:02 <lmacken> oddshocks: did you get the broken pip issue resolved?
18:17:06 <lmacken> *pipe
18:17:12 <abompard> nirik: yeah, I need to deploy the new version to prod though
18:17:32 <oddshocks> threebean: Will do, thanks!
18:17:37 <nirik> abompard: ok. Also, do we now want to redeploy on rhel7?
18:17:42 <abompard> nirik: I still have a small permission issue on the second prod server
18:17:44 <pingou> abompard: got any timeline in mind?
18:17:55 <abompard> Oh yeah, let's move to rhel7 first
18:17:58 <pingou> \ó/
18:18:03 <oddshocks> lmacken: Yeah, all good, it was caused by another problem. Rewriting some stuff right now but it should work and also be a lot faster than before :)
18:18:10 <oddshocks> lmacken: thanks for checking it out
18:18:12 <lmacken> oddshocks: excellent, nice work :)
18:18:15 <oddshocks> :)
18:18:16 <pingou> nirik: I have the feeling the move to el7 is going to be easier than the move to el6 was :)
18:18:33 <nirik> pingou: hard to say... but we will see.
18:19:41 <oddshocks> I'm sure everyone who worked on rhel 7 will be happy to see that 4-year loop closed
18:19:50 <pingou> nirik: more up to dates apps :)
18:20:02 <abadger1999> tflink: Does taskotron impact existing services? (Like make automated queries to an existing service?)
18:20:34 <nirik> pingou: I suspect we will need to do a fair bit of packaging work in epel for some of our stacks... and if we want to try and move to py3 also that will be more work too. ;)
18:20:58 <abadger1999> tflink: If it does not, then I think it doesn't need to sit in stg for very long.
18:21:20 <pingou> nirik: flask has barely any deps ;-)
18:21:25 <pingou> nirik: but for sure we'll see
18:21:39 <lmacken> and the deps it does have, you won't be able to pronounce ;)
18:21:58 <abadger1999> tflink: If it does, we need to evaluate the risk but we probably should deploy it sooner (before we get into release freezes) rather than later.
18:22:30 <nirik> pingou: actually it looks like they are pulling flask into rhel...
18:22:45 <pingou> ah, that might get tricky :/
18:23:25 <nirik> tflink: yeah, I guess I would say for a first prod run sooner is better, but of course it needs to be at least somewhat functional. ;)
18:23:26 <abadger1999> :-(
18:23:44 <abadger1999> heh. I imagine our reaction is the opposite of what many rhel customer's is...
18:24:47 <nirik> except I am not seeing it... but someone filed a bunch of bugs asking for epel maintainers to remove it.
18:25:09 <pingou> nirik: for flask?
18:25:17 <nirik> yeah
18:25:25 <nirik> anyhow, can do that outside meeting time. ;)
18:25:29 <pingou> sure
18:25:32 <abadger1999> Hmmm -- maybe they were jumping the gun? It was in a "layered product" not in the pieces of rhel that we care about.
18:25:51 * abadger1999 notes that last sentence should end in a question mark :-)
18:26:33 <threebean> oh, we got a cloud/dev instance of bodhi2 up today
18:26:34 <nirik> yeah, dunno.
18:26:38 <threebean> http://bodhi.dev.fedoraproject.org
18:27:00 <tflink> abadger1999: yeah, it queries both koji and bodhi
18:27:02 <threebean> any feedback appreciated.. perhaps just mention it in #fedora-apps or file bugs on github?
18:27:05 <oddshocks> threebean: nice!
18:27:20 <oddshocks> gratz bodhi folks
18:27:56 <tflink> nirik: it's mostly functional - our current staging instance has been running for a month or so now
18:28:01 <abadger1999> tflink: k. I still think we want to get it deployed a bit sooner... We don't put the same sort of load onto stg that we do on prod so we sadly don't test that side of things too well in stg.
18:28:27 <tflink> abadger1999: I still want to do a load/stress test of a dev-ish instance to see where the bottlenecks are
18:28:36 <abadger1999> Sounds good.
18:28:58 <tflink> unofortunately, my todo list has been growing with higher-priority tasks faster than I'm taking care of them :-/
18:29:08 <nirik> tflink: I hear ya there. ;(
18:29:14 <tflink> I'd like to switch autoqa off around branch (July 8)
18:29:38 <tflink> but that's not very far off
18:29:50 <nirik> yeah.
18:30:00 <nirik> we would want to get it in prod well before that I think if we can
18:30:31 <tflink> it can't be 100% production until autoqa is turned off due to how feedback is provided via bodhi comments
18:30:46 <oddshocks> nirik: Congrats on being the first badger to earn over 100 Fedora Badges :)
18:30:55 <nirik> oddshocks: :)
18:31:28 <nirik> tflink: sure, but it can be ready to switch to, etc.
18:31:46 <tflink> yeah, my plan was to use our fake_fedorainfra instead of bodhi until the switchover
18:32:31 <tflink> we've been using it for autoqa-stg for a year or two and other than a few error cases when bodhi times out, it mostly solves the issue of having multiple things commenting to bodhi
18:34:16 <nirik> ok, cool.
18:34:22 <nirik> anything else app side?
18:34:53 <threebean> real quick..
18:35:19 <threebean> fmn's backend is getting faster and faster
18:35:23 <pingou> \ó/
18:35:25 <nirik> abompard: do think on moving to rhel7... if we want to do that before we move any prod lists...
18:35:31 <nirik> threebean: cool. :)
18:35:33 <threebean> I'm focusing on trying to get the QueueLength graph at the bottom of this report down to 'zero' as much as possible
18:35:37 <threebean> .tiny https://admin.fedoraproject.org/collectd/bin/index.cgi?hostname=notifs-back…
18:35:38 <zodbot> threebean: http://tinyurl.com/pzmmdug
18:35:44 <abompard> nirik: yeah, we should do that first
18:36:22 <nirik> FYI for anyone who doesn't know... 'fmn' is a fedora notifications server.
18:36:26 <threebean> if people want to help test it and report bugs and feature requests, that would be helpful
18:36:27 <threebean> yes
18:36:27 <oddshocks> cool
18:36:27 * bwood09 wishes he could get RHEL7 licensing :/
18:36:32 <threebean> https://apps.fedoraproject.org/notifications
18:36:37 <nirik> abompard: ok, can let you know when we get thigns setup for that
18:36:50 <abompard> nirik: yeah, please do :-)
18:37:30 <nirik> hopefully not too long
18:37:37 <abompard> great
18:38:08 <nirik> ok, moving along...
18:38:15 <nirik> #topic Sysadmin status / discussion
18:38:36 <nirik> we got value* machines moved to ansible earlier this week. Thanks for the help on that threebean
18:38:43 <threebean> :)
18:39:03 <nirik> we have just around 100 machines left in puppet. about 32 of those are virthosts we just haven't switched yet because we haven't re-installed them yet.
18:39:12 <nirik> so moving along nicely.
18:39:51 <smooge> yay.
18:39:59 <bwood09> I'm still rounding the edges of that fedorahosted stuff; I need a bit of help though.
18:40:06 <mirek-hm> what's the status of machines for new cloud?
18:40:08 <adimania> I can pick up another module.
18:40:10 <nirik> bwood09: you did get into the machine finally right?
18:40:14 <bwood09> I did :)
18:40:17 <nirik> cool.
18:40:18 <bwood09> In it now, actaully, lol
18:40:21 <smooge> mirek-hm, I have 3 higher priority tasks at the moment
18:40:40 <mirek-hm> ok
18:40:42 <nirik> smooge / mirek-hm: I think we have them on the net now, just need a baseos install?
18:40:54 <smooge> mirek-hm, I got a minimal install on them and got their networks tested. I need to put a full os on them and then turn them over
18:41:10 <smooge> I would like to get a box on the network I can use to do faster installs on first
18:41:26 <smooge> as I am tired of spending 4 hours waiting for a minimal OS to upload
18:41:45 <nirik> smooge: fed-cloud02.cloud does have a dhcpd and pxe setup I used for the arm03 SOCs.
18:41:51 <nirik> might be able to use that.
18:42:34 <smooge> nirik, yeah. that is my next choice.
18:42:47 <nirik> it's kludgy, but would at least get them up
18:43:02 <smooge> I wanted to get a permanent one up with an ansible set so I could reinstall the dhcp on devel etc and cut that out of our list
18:43:31 <smooge> I figure that I should have that by early next week.
18:43:42 <smooge> if not I am going with dhcpd on cloud2
18:43:49 <nirik> ok.
18:44:02 <bwood09> If I could get a couple of people to help me with narrowing this list down, getting metrics on who it'll affect, and planning implementation, that'd be awesome.
18:44:19 <smooge> I am working on getting osuosl working and dl-ib01 turned off as higher priority at the moment
18:44:23 <bwood09> I can probably do it by myself, but it would take (literally) forever. lol
18:44:41 <nirik> bwood09: cool. Might ask on the list? or perhaps start in a bit and then post to the list with some beginning data to get people interested?
18:45:01 <bwood09> If you don't mind pointing me toward how I could grab some of it, sure
18:45:25 <bwood09> I don't need specific instructions, just a general idea of how
18:45:47 <nirik> bwood09: can try after the meeting?
18:45:50 <bwood09> Not a problem
18:46:29 <nirik> lets see... I've been trying to setup things so we can start rhel7 installs... hopefully will have that before too long.
18:46:43 <nirik> #topic nagios recap
18:46:48 <nirik> .tiny https://admin.fedoraproject.org/nagios/cgi-bin//summary.cgi?report=1&displa…
18:46:48 <zodbot> nirik: http://tinyurl.com/q8j48o9
18:47:06 <nirik> doing better than last week by a fair bit. ;)
18:47:28 <smooge> yeah. that is the best I have seen in a while
18:47:31 <nirik> I might try adjusting the telia datacenter checks to make them less trigger happy.
18:47:42 <nirik> or if anyone else wants to look into that that would be great.
18:47:45 <smooge> would that be by turning them off :)
18:48:35 <nirik> yeah. The sad thing is that it's just phx2 < -- > telia that don't like talking sometimes...
18:48:53 * bwood09 will be back in ~20 minutes; highlighting bwood09_ so IRC will be flashing on my taskbar when I get home
18:49:38 <nirik> #topic Upcoming Tasks/Items
18:49:38 <nirik> https://apps.fedoraproject.org/calendar/list/infrastructure/
18:49:47 <nirik> anything upcoming folks would like to note or schedule?
18:50:47 <nirik> smooge: I guess we should start/finish planning our phx2 trip...
18:50:54 <nirik> I guess late july will be ok for me.
18:51:00 <mjnovice> hello everybody, was a bit late!
18:51:07 <mjnovice> meeting about to end ?
18:51:16 <nirik> mjnovice: getting near end yeah. ;) welcome tho.
18:51:32 <smooge> nirik, yes. I think that July 22->July 25
18:52:00 <smooge> hardware should arrive by then
18:52:23 <danofsatx-work> Texas Linux Fest this weekend. I will be attending.
18:52:30 <nirik> smooge: yeah. I guess lets float those dates to rhit and others and make sure there's no conflicts and then start booking thing.
18:53:21 <mjnovice> Wanted to update on bugspad. Due to some fixing, deployment for dev-testing got delayed. But will do it by the end of this week. :)
18:53:36 <nirik> mjnovice: cool. :)
18:53:45 <mjnovice> nirik: :)
18:54:17 <nirik> #topic Open Floor
18:54:30 <nirik> anyone have items for open floor? questions, comments, favorate editors?
18:54:44 <adimania> I know nagios, python and little bit of Django. Where can I help?
18:54:44 <danofsatx-work> whoops, the TLF shoulda gone here....sorry
18:55:38 <nirik> adimania: take a look at easyfix tickets? or jump in with stuff mentioned on irc...
18:55:48 <nirik> danofsatx-work: no worries. say hi to the fedora folks there.
18:55:55 <danofsatx-work> sure will.
18:56:01 <danofsatx-work> I need some swag ;)
18:56:06 <threebean> adimania: yeah, ask.fedoraproject.org is our only django app that I know of.
18:56:32 <nirik> but there's outstanding tickets on it. ;)
18:56:38 <adimania> threebean, that's okay. I understand that we have a lots of python projects.
18:56:39 <threebean> hey
18:56:49 <pingou> w/ hyperkitty (in the future)
18:56:58 <threebean> well, ask.fedoraproject.org needs some help. no one is actively working on it at the moment iirc.
18:57:15 <pingou> threebean: +1
18:57:29 <adimania> threebean, nirik cool. I'll try to get the tickets resolved there.
18:57:35 <threebean> awesome :)
18:57:40 <adimania> any sysadmin stuff where I can help?
18:57:43 <nirik> adimania: great. :)
18:57:59 <threebean> hm, datagrepper could be migrated from puppet to ansible :P
18:58:11 <nirik> https://fedoraproject.org/easyfix/
18:58:13 <pingou> \ó/
18:58:33 <nirik> yeah, thats ticket 4393. ;)
18:58:35 <adimania> nirik, looked at easyfix already. :)
18:59:26 <nirik> ok. Aside from those hanging out in irc and asking questions or chiming up when someone says we should do something will often find you tasks too. ;)
18:59:34 * nirik sees we are nearly out of time.
19:00:06 * adimania got a couple of leads to work on. datagrepper migration and ask.fp.o
19:00:17 <nirik> please do continue over in #fedora-admin, #fedora-noc and #fedora-apps. ;)
19:00:20 <nirik> Thanks for coming everyone!
19:00:23 <nirik> #endmeeting

18:09:06 * bwood09 is here
18:09:10 <pingou> nice writing speed!
18:09:12 * pingou
18:09:17 <nirik> copy and paste for the win. ;)
18:09:24 <pingou> cheating ;-)
18:09:26 * puiterwijk lurking
18:09:39 <smooge> here
18:09:45 <abadger1999> Greetings
18:10:15 * oddshocks descends from a firehouse pole
18:10:19 <nirik> #topic New folks introductions and Apprentice tasks
18:10:30 <nirik> any new folks today who would like to introduce themselves?
18:10:37 <nirik> or apprentices with questions or comments?
18:10:48 * mpduty is here
18:11:11 <mpduty> !
18:11:38 <pingou> mpduty: just speak :)
18:11:52 <mpduty> I am receiving a reminder from fedocal for APAC meeting two days after the meeting
18:11:53 <pingou> we don't use ! in this meeting :)
18:12:26 <pingou> mpduty: you should look at the headers of the email
18:12:39 <nirik> might be the meeting time is wrong in fedocal?
18:13:01 <pingou> I received it on the 23rd for a meeting on the 24th
18:13:09 <mpduty> but others say that they are receiving the reminder on time
18:13:14 <pingou> apparently, exactly 24h before the meeting
18:13:19 <nirik> ah, strange.
18:13:42 <pingou> mpduty: look at the headers of the email, one of the smtp server might be blocked it for some reasons
18:13:56 <mpduty> pingou: ok
18:14:03 <bwood09> So, no new apprentices this week?
18:14:17 <nirik> seems not. ;)
18:14:24 <nirik> #topic Applications status / discussion
18:14:46 <nirik> many of our application folks are traveling today back from the bodhi2 / taskotron FAD we just had.
18:14:58 <nirik> we got a lot of bodhi2 hacked on.
18:15:19 <abadger1999> Cool. Is it a shape that we'll deploy it soon?
18:15:22 <pingou> nice :)
18:15:27 <nirik> sadly not yet...
18:15:27 <pingou> stg/preview?
18:15:49 <nirik> it still needs more work to get it to that point... we were thinking of trying to get it to staging before too long and then do the cutover after f21
18:15:50 <tyll> where there any status updates mails this or last month?
18:16:09 <nirik> tyll: not last month, will be this month, I will be sending it out later today
18:16:37 <nirik> there are a number of bodhi2 consumers we don't control, so we want a lot of time for them to be able to adjust to new api.
18:17:07 <pingou> +1
18:17:21 <pingou> call for testers and announce API breaking :)
18:17:26 <nirik> absolutely
18:17:40 <mapyth> I would like to update you all on the status of bugspad. as we decided
18:18:00 <abadger1999> <nod> So the thread on major deployments on infra list might be helpful to create a plan from.
18:18:15 <mapyth> the ui is basic crud complete.
18:19:08 <mapyth> and we would be deploying on a server. for initial testing.
18:19:15 <nirik> abadger1999: I need to reply to that, haven't had time.
18:19:37 <abadger1999> nirik: <nod> Yeah ;-)
18:19:58 <nirik> mapyth: are you wanting resources from us for that? or what was the end goal of this application?
18:21:35 * nirik thought it was more of a thing for Fedora the community than anything infra would run.
18:21:43 <puiterwijk> quick update from me: FedOAuth 3.0 is finally feature complete and tested (big thanks to pingou for helping testing!), rolling the release now and going to deploy to stg in a bit
18:21:53 <pingou> puiterwijk: awesome
18:22:10 <pingou> nirik: it's a bug tracker in python and GO (iirc)
18:22:34 <nirik> pingou: yeah...
18:22:47 <oddshocks> Update on automatic cloud image uploading: Successfully pulling down image files and emitting fedmsgs upon successful download (such as to our internal FTP server). Currently hooking in proper AWS connections to upload images as AMIs to every EC2 region, which will also emit a fedmsg.
18:22:53 <oddshocks> Current code is at https://github.com/oddshocks/fedimg, I'd like to ask you all at this meeting today if you'd like to see it transfered to gh.c/fedora-infra or alternatively gh.c/fedora-cloud.
18:22:59 <oddshocks> I will also be adding a remote to https://git.fedorahosted.org/ at some point or folks who are opposed to git.
18:24:16 <abadger1999> puiterwijk: Congratulations!
18:24:29 <nirik> oddshocks: cool. we could transfer it to gh.c/fedora-infra if you like, or wait, whatever works.
18:24:42 <nirik> puiterwijk: what cool things aare in 3.0 again/
18:25:49 <puiterwijk> nirik: well, mostly a full rewrite with a more stable codebase, multi-tab operation, and much more flexible to add more auth providers (openid connect, oauth, ...) in the future
18:25:50 <pingou> oddshocks: b/w fedora-infra and fedora-cloud I'd say it depends from which side/team you expect the most contributions
18:25:52 * nirik really needs to fix that a repeating
18:26:43 <oddshocks> pingou: in that case it's going to infra. the cloud org has only 2 repos and much less action because the cloud sig uses fedorahosted git more often it seems
18:26:55 <nirik> fair enough
18:27:28 <oddshocks> it has a lot to do with fedmsg and koji, too, so it fits
18:27:30 <puiterwijk> nirik: it should also finally fix the issue where you sometimes lose the session and get thrown back to the "You will be redirected here" homepage of fedoauth during an openid transaction
18:27:53 <pingou> oddshocks: also, for the record most (if not all) my projects are mirrored on hosted (just because :))
18:27:56 <oddshocks> puiterwijk: nice!
18:28:12 <pingou> puiterwijk: looking forward :)
18:28:18 <puiterwijk> pingou: not just you :D
18:28:41 <puiterwijk> oh, and to get you even more hyped: I've got some ideas that I'm planning to announce at my talk at Flock for FedOAuth :)
18:28:44 <oddshocks> pingou: I will check with people if I can get permission to create repos like I have on GH. I think I had to be "added" to a repo before because I got an email about it.
18:28:49 * threebean waves "hello"
18:28:53 * pingou waves at threebean
18:28:54 * relrod waves too
18:28:58 * puiterwijk waves to threebean
18:29:00 <nirik> hello fadders.
18:29:05 <relrod> :)
18:29:06 * oddshocks waves at threebean
18:29:22 * roshi waves too since he's lurking :)
18:30:14 <nirik> ok, any other apps news?
18:30:14 <bwood09> Speaking of fedorahosted
18:30:26 <threebean> bodhi, bodhi, bodhi
18:30:26 <nirik> anyone from the FAD want to talk about bodhi2 status? ;)
18:30:32 <nirik> bwood09: yes?
18:30:50 <bwood09> I've been in school all the time lately, but I'm back on that guideline stuff
18:31:14 <bwood09> I've reviewed the feedback I got from mattdm, pingou, and other on the mailing list
18:31:29 <nirik> bwood09: cool. I saw the traac ticket on that the other day and thought about it briefly. ;)
18:31:30 <pingou> cool
18:31:48 <bwood09> I'm going to add that stuff to the doc, send it out again, and start figuring out statistics and implementation
18:32:05 <nirik> excellent. thanks bwood09
18:33:12 <mapyth> nirik: i would want for testing apps from the infra team . would be hosting it on my mentor's server. and would want the infra team to test it out and use. as an end goal would want it to be usable as an alternative bug tracking software. :)
18:33:38 <nirik> mapyth: ok, sure... happy to see what you have. ;) Do let us know when it's up for testing...
18:34:37 <hammad_> Hello, I would Like to update on Fedora-college. We have been doing the api for the project for these days. And done with the database models. Also, working on GUI side by side.
18:36:11 <nirik> ok.
18:36:21 * nirik really needs to read up more closely on these projects. ;)
18:36:46 <pingou> hammad_: nice, feel free to show us when you have something :)
18:36:54 <nirik> ok, thanks for status updates everyone. ;)
18:37:03 <hammad_> Surely pingou
18:37:20 <nirik> #topic Sysadmin status / discussion
18:37:27 <nirik> on the sysadmin side of things...
18:37:47 <nirik> dgilmore and I (and others) worked on our staging releng stuff... and it's a lot more usefull now.
18:38:00 <threebean> thanks for that :)
18:38:04 <pingou> cool :)
18:38:08 <nirik> koji01.stg can do builds, it has a builder, it has all the tags that prod has, etc.
18:38:12 <pingou> some much coolness @ FAD :-p
18:38:20 <nirik> and we should be able to do mashes and bodhi testing now too.
18:38:22 <abadger1999> Nice work!
18:38:34 <pingou> very nice :)
18:38:43 <nirik> we came up with a clever way to keep koji in sync... it uses the primary latest repos as external repos.
18:39:13 <nirik> I still need to rebuild pkgs01.stg in ansible and sync it (it's pretty out of date right now)
18:39:43 <nirik> Also, tflink and I had a lot of discussions around qa infrastructure.
18:40:01 <threebean> yeah, tflink's been working on a rewrite of rbac-playbook
18:40:06 <tflink> it'll be nice to get all of that done :)
18:40:12 <nirik> He's reworked rbac-playbook to be nicer/more featurefull and we are going to start merging their ansible stuff into our ansible repo.
18:40:18 <nirik> yeh.
18:40:42 <nirik> dgilmore and I also talked about moving the secondary stuff more into our ansible repo too.
18:41:01 <tflink> I think that the new rbac_playbook is ready for use but more eyes would be appreciated in case I missed something: https://bitbucket.org/tflink/rbac-ansible
18:41:21 <abadger1999> Tangent -- is the ansible repo something that we can make public? Or do we have legacy private stuff like we do in the puppet repo?
18:41:32 <tflink> isn't it already public?
18:41:43 <pingou> it is yes
18:41:46 <abadger1999> ah, it might be and I simply never looked for it.
18:41:50 <nirik> it is.
18:41:52 <tflink> http://infrastructure.fedoraproject.org/cgit/ansible.git
18:41:57 <nirik> public from the start.
18:42:00 <pingou> http://infrastructure.fedoraproject.org/infra/ansible/
18:42:32 <nirik> we do still have a ansible-private/private repos, but those are mostly just passwords and keys and such
18:42:40 <abadger1999> <nod>
18:42:42 <abadger1999> Cool.
18:43:13 <nirik> smooge has been working on getting our new cloud boxes up so we can install cloud 2.0
18:43:41 <pingou> nice :)
18:43:57 <nirik> #topic nagios recap
18:43:59 <mattdm> yes nice :0
18:44:01 <mattdm> :)
18:44:02 <nirik> .tiny https://admin.fedoraproject.org/nagios/cgi-bin//summary.cgi?report=1&displa…
18:44:02 <zodbot> nirik: http://tinyurl.com/q8j48o9
18:44:10 <nirik> mattdm: you have a 'cloud' highlight? ;)
18:44:31 <mattdm> nirik only in my brain :)
18:44:49 <nirik> most of the nagios alerts this last week were the fedmsg monitoring stuff, and threebean pushed a hopeful fix for it.
18:44:57 <nirik> I don't think I have seen any of them since the fix was pushed.
18:45:02 * threebean nods
18:45:10 <threebean> yeah, there were two separate issues. fixes out for both.
18:45:21 <pingou> cool :)
18:45:24 <nirik> excellent.
18:45:28 <pingou> (did I already say that? :))
18:45:29 <nirik> #topic Upcoming Tasks/Items
18:45:29 <nirik> https://apps.fedoraproject.org/calendar/list/infrastructure/
18:45:30 <threebean> there's a third and last issue with the fmn consumer, so it will continue to error out until I can get another release out there.
18:45:40 * nirik is quick on the paste, sorry.
18:45:51 <threebean> all good ;)
18:45:52 <nirik> any upcoming items folks would like to schedule or ntoe?
18:45:55 <nirik> note even
18:46:00 <pingou> the next fedocal release should be pretty cool :)
18:46:36 <nirik> oh yeah? whats in it? :)
18:46:54 <mpduty> :)
18:46:57 <pingou> auto-scrolling in the list view, so that it brings you directly to the future meeting
18:47:03 <pingou> a countdown that mpduty is working on
18:47:15 <pingou> (to know when is the meeting you're looking at)
18:47:20 <nirik> nice.
18:47:39 <pingou> shortcuts to add switch calendar view and get the iCal output easier
18:47:45 <pingou> and bug fixes :)
18:47:52 <threebean> mpduty, pingou: for the countdown, have you looked at moment.js?
18:47:55 <threebean> might be handy
18:48:12 <pingou> threebean: we were looking at some jquery based one
18:48:16 <pingou> but that's an idea
18:48:20 * threebean nods
18:48:31 <threebean> moment's api is quite nice
18:48:38 <mapyth> my net is giving me nightmares. was my message sent nirik?
18:49:25 <nirik> mapyth: about 10min ago? or newer? can you repeat to be sure?
18:50:16 <mapyth> am repeating. was wanting that once feature complete bugspad be tested with one or more apps from infra.
18:50:51 <mapyth> would be deploying on my mentor's server for testing
18:51:23 <nirik> I'm not sure what you mean by 'tested with one or more apps' ? can you expand on that?
18:51:37 <nirik> we can surely have people test it and look at it.
18:51:58 <mapyth> as a final goal would want it as a fast alternative to bugzilla.
18:52:12 <threebean> my and relrod's cab is here. gotta run
18:52:14 * threebean waves
18:52:21 <nirik> threebean: safe travels
18:52:32 <mapyth> testing as in using bugspad for tracking bugs of those applications
18:52:50 <nirik> mapyth: well, it's not too likely we will move fedora from bugzilla, but it's hard to say until we have more data I suppose.
18:53:49 <nirik> but sure, we are interested to look at it and see what needs it will match. ;)
18:54:31 <mapyth> nirik, okay then would want ppl from infra team to test it out once deployed. :)
18:55:51 <nirik> sure, let us know.
18:56:19 <nirik> #topic Open Floor
18:56:26 <nirik> any items for open floor? ideas, suggestions?
18:57:09 <pingou> I've had a bunch of changes to the elections app, we may want to cut a new release :)
18:57:57 <nirik> pingou: sounds good. no elections right now I don't think, so feel free.
18:58:07 * webpigeon is very late
18:58:09 <pingou> roger that, I'll prepare it then
18:58:24 <pingou> nirik: we also need to speak about the kerneltest-harness project
18:58:32 <pingou> I got a couple more fixes in today
18:58:36 <nirik> oh yeaah, where was that at?
18:58:40 <mapyth> what is open floor btw ?
18:58:41 <nirik> is it up anywhere we can look?
18:58:53 <pingou> seems to be ready feature-wise (just missing the fedmsg integration)
18:58:55 <nirik> mapyth: any items not covered by a specific topic...
18:59:14 <pingou> maybe jforbes has it running somewhere, I do not
18:59:20 <mapyth> nirik okay thanks.
18:59:42 <pingou> nirik: but before deploying I would not mind having a second set of eyes looking at the code
18:59:49 <nirik> pingou: cool. perhaps send to list?
19:00:00 <pingou> I'm still a bit chilly about anonymous uploads
19:00:07 <pingou> nirik: sounds good yes
19:00:36 <pingou> after that, since jforbes wants fedmsg integration, I think we have no choice but to put it in our traditional infra (vs the cloud)
19:00:50 <nirik> sure, yep.
19:00:53 <pingou> or to see with threebean if we can have a cloud instance talk on fedmsg
19:01:09 <pingou> note: that app has no unit-test atm :]
19:01:34 <nirik> we can, copr does.
19:01:47 <nirik> but might be better to move it to sundries server?
19:01:50 <pingou> ah, we have the choice then
19:01:55 <abadger1999> pingou: Hmm... well can it be used to upload any file?
19:02:00 <pingou> it's a web-app
19:02:07 <pingou> abadger1999: I try to restrict
19:02:19 <pingou> nirik: webapp on sundries ? :/
19:02:26 <nirik> pingou: yeah, perhaps not then.
19:02:26 <pingou> if cloud is an option, I kinda like it
19:02:38 <nirik> oh, it needs a db tho right?
19:02:43 <pingou> it does yes
19:03:00 <nirik> which we could also run on the same cloud instance, but that makes it harder to backup, etc.
19:03:02 <pingou> good point
19:03:47 <nirik> we could still... we can think on it.
19:04:24 <nirik> ok, we are over time, so will close out in a minute if nothing else...
19:04:33 <pingou> abadger1999: actually, there are not really any :/
