glib is already a dependency though, isn't it? I know I've at least seen the glib hash table being used. So it's not really just one function. :-)

... and now I feel stupid since I mixed up glib and gnulib. In any case, glib is already being used and it has a function that will work fine for this, g_strdup_printf(), which is already used in the code base.
