Hey, I'm Ankit R Gadiya. I'm 17, I'm a linux and open-source enthusiast. I'd like to contribute to Fedora Project whenever I can. And I'd like to start it by writing articles for Fedora Magazine. So, I'd love to become the author of Fedora Magazine.
As a matter of Fact I've already wrote my first article and Pitched. TBH I'm not very familiar with the process though as this is the first time I'm going to write articles collaboratively. I do write my blog though (https://blog.ankitrgadiya.in)
As a matter of fact I already wrote my first article. Link: https://fedoramagazine.org/?p=16348&preview=1&_ppp=a2bea5d666
Brief: Its about getting hands on i3-wm on Fedora machine. It also include few must have configurations to make day-to-day tasks easier.
Thanks
Hi Ankit,
Welcome! This looks like a neat subject to cover. Have you looked at what other articles we've published about i3 in the past to see how it fits in with them?
I like the angle you take here with "Getting Started with i3", following up with extending the config.

Ankit, you may want to make sure your email address is reflected correctly. I got an "undeliverable" error trying to respond to the address you used. Remember that you don't get a @fedoraproject.org email address without additional membership. You may want to check your group memberships to ensure that address is correct. Or perhaps it's just mistyped. "ankitrgadiya@fp.o" didn't work, though.

Hey, I'm not really sure what's the problem is, as of now my primary email address for this mailing list is ankitrgadiya@fedoraproject.org, which according to the Settings > Email address panel is Verfied and Primary, but I tried sending test mail to it and gave me error. Do I have to change my primary mail?

In order to for the @fedoraproject.org alias to be active, you need to be in at least one group other than the basic "Signed CLA" status. Fedora Magazine Contributor Group will count, once someone sponsors you.

Yes. You should swich to your actual email address. A @fp.o alias is only offered to project members who are approved group members. I'm not sure why it would show up as Verified, but that seems wrong since the alias is not active.
No problem I already changed it.

Thanks for appreciation. I've not found an article about i3 recently, didn't searched all the articles, I'll do it.

Hi Ankit, thanks for introducing yourself here on the mailing list! I think it's awesome that you're getting involved with open source already and that you're doing some writing on your personal blog. :)
We briefly touched on the i3 article you put together on the Magazine. We remembered maybe a little too late that we published "Getting started with the i3 tiling window manager" in the past year.
https://fedoramagazine.org/getting-started-i3-window-manager/
We talked about ways that your article would be helpful to extend this past article as a follow-up, or maybe to have it focus in on some of the specific tools or cool enhancements that you can make to a i3wm workstation. Some ideas that come to mind to me are…
* "How to customize your window manager with conky" * "How to configure i3status in i3wm"
…or other ideas for exploring specific things in i3wm that could maybe use more help to explain.
Do you have any ideas about specific things you'd like to cover more in i3wm? Since we have already published a getting started type of article on the Magazine, it will better for us to find a way to either expand on the last one or go in a little deeper to a specific part of i3wm and how to use it best.
Hope this helps! Thanks again for introducing yourself here on the list. :)

Thanks for replying,
I read the previous article about i3-wm from Fedora Mazagine and its covering a lot of things already. Also, I'd like to mention that conky is covered in previous post. However, Media controls and Brightness controls are not. So, we can keep it.
also, I can write about following things:
* Setting i3 to launch specific programs( like firefox, rhythmbox, etc) on specific workspaces * Also I have an idea about mentioning Rofi to replace default dmenu, as dmenu is no longer maintained. But Rofi is not in official Fedora Repos. * Also I can write about Colors in i3-wm to make it look better
Also, in a different thread I read about Started pitches and they are interesting, can I do a few of them after this?

Hi Ankit,
I'm not sure what you meant by "we can keep it" above. Can you clarify? I think the Magazine editors were more interested in seeing some different articles.
I'd really encourage you to pick up a starter pitch, and write that. These are already "right sized" so we can use it to gauge your writing, and have an easier time editing and publishing your work. Does that sound OK?
