[magazine] Embedded terminal / devilspie article
by Ryan Lerch
HI all,
At the last meeting, i was tasked with editing the Embedded terminal /
devilspie article, and have kinda hit a bit of a snag.
The main way of embedding the terminal described in this article --
devilspie -- does not work in the wayland session on Fedora 25. See this
bug for details: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1297349
This is not really a bug, IMHO, just that wayland is more secure and doesnt
let random applications interact with windows that arent theirs.
Not 100% sure if we should go ahead with this one, as it does not work with
the default Fedora desktop out of the box.
what do you all think?
cheers,

Sorry for the delay here, but I think we got this all figured out in IRC
earlier. Thanks for your patience on this, Donald! :)

[magazine] Re: Created draft article for Using Emoji with Fedora 25
by Ryan Lerch
Okies, i had a quick read, and have tried to simplify it a bit more, this
is what i ended up with in the post:
"""
If the input sources section does not have any items listed, first add your
basic keyboard layout -- in this example we are using *English US. * Next,
enable an advanced input method (which is powered behind the scenes by
iBus). The advanced input methods are identifiable in the list by the cogs
icon on the right of the list. In this example below, we have added
*English - US (Typing Booster) """*
It is still a little too complicated for my liking, but i think it strikes
a good balance. Just out of interest, is there any reason why ibus is not
enabled by default for the regular keyboard layout? IMHO It seems a little
counter-intuiutive to enable a different layout/input method that changes
the functionality of the one you are already using.

[magazine] article idea: Why we close bugs as end-of-life
by Matthew Miller
As every release goes end-of-life, we automatically close all of the
bugs filed against it -- even if they're not fixed. As a user who went
to the trouble to report a bug, this can be frustrating. We can explain
why we do it, why it's still valuable to file bugs, and how to reopen
bugs when appropriate.

Thanks for contributing this article, Pravin! This is an awesome article
idea. :) I don't have time to review it currently, but the Magazine team
will have a chance to look at it during our editorial meeting at 22:00
UTC on Thursday (i.e. today!).

[magazine] Fedora 23 EOL post
by Ryan Lerch
Hi all, I have just drafted up the Fedora 23 EOL announcement here:
https://fedoramagazine.org/?p=15923&preview=1&_ppp=d4df79e6e5
It is currently almost complete with two things that still need to be done:
* a featured image (i will do this soon)
* update the dates in the post with the acutal EOL date. Since i
copypasta-ed this from the 22 EOL announcement, it currently lists those
dates, which obviously need to change.
cheers,

[magazine] Bitcoin Article
by Ryan Lerch
HI all,
I have just done an editorial pass on the Electrum / Bitcoin article.
I am not really well versed in Bitcoins, so it was a little hard for me to
add any extra explainations, but it seems that someone knows a little about
bitcoin will be able to use this article to start using electrum.
One question that I did have was with this sentence:
"""
Your bitcoins are lost if your hard drive dies and if you lose your 12
words.
"""
what is meant by "your 12 words"?
other than that, from a copy-editing perspective, this one is ready to go!
