[magazine] article idea: Why we close bugs as end-of-life
by Matthew Miller
As every release goes end-of-life, we automatically close all of the
bugs filed against it -- even if they're not fixed. As a user who went
to the trouble to report a bug, this can be frustrating. We can explain
why we do it, why it's still valuable to file bugs, and how to reopen
bugs when appropriate.

[magazine] Bitcoin Article
by Ryan Lerch
HI all,
I have just done an editorial pass on the Electrum / Bitcoin article.
I am not really well versed in Bitcoins, so it was a little hard for me to
add any extra explainations, but it seems that someone knows a little about
bitcoin will be able to use this article to start using electrum.
One question that I did have was with this sentence:
"""
Your bitcoins are lost if your hard drive dies and if you lose your 12
words.
"""
what is meant by "your 12 words"?
other than that, from a copy-editing perspective, this one is ready to go!

[magazine] Article idea: Launch fedora on dply.co
by Matthew Miller
I came across this on Reddit yesterday — a Digital Ocean employee has a
service where you can launch test images in a cloud environment really
easily from a website with a github account. You get two hours for
free. Since Digital Ocean has Fedora (Dusty tells me Fedora 25 should
be available RSN), Fedora is an option. I was thinking about a Fedora
Magazine article once F25 is available, with a direct link to actually
launch a Fedora instance, and some screenshots showing how it works.
I'm talking with the creator about also adding Fedora Atomic, and it
occured to me that we could have some followup articles with things
like "set up Wordpress in a container on Fedora Atomic" with pre-cooked
configs for doing that with a button press.
To try it (Fedora 24), click this: https://dply.co/b/fz95S8RH

Including this response on the Magazine mailing list as well. I have no
objections to publishing ASAP, although I think it might be best until
we discover a fix for the CDN serving images since everything looks a
little off right now… I think the article will be better received when
all the images display accordingly! :)

It took me a little longer than I wanted to circle back around to this,
but I have a first draft of something we could share with the freenode
team to publish on their community blog. Since this would likely be
shared across a wide audience, I wanted to make sure that we get our
messaging right in this article (CCing Magazine and CommOps mailing
lists too). It might also be because I'm tired, but I was trying to
brainstorm ideas for how to use IRC effectively a la Fedora's
recommendations, but was coming up short. Any additions or ideas would
be appreciated!
You can find a public preview of the article here:

And it can be edited here:

Feel free to critique any other parts of the article as well – I am very
open to feedback! Thanks everyone.

Hey Link, thanks for helping write up this article for the Magazine!
It'll be awesome to have some more coverage of some available games in
Fedora. :)
I like the idea of splitting up the articles and having this one be
focused exclusively on Endless Sky. In the meanwhile, I have ported your
article you sent into the Fedora Magazine interface (i.e. WordPress).
You can see a public preview of it here...
https://fedoramagazine.org/?p=15750&preview=1&_ppp=f34d4f74b1
And if you're signed into the Magazine, you should be able to edit it
and update it here...
https://fedoramagazine.org/wp-admin/post.php?post=15750&action=edit
Feel free to make any changes to the article to make it current. Once
you feel it's ready for publishing, you can set the article from "Draft"
status to "Pending review" on the right sidebar when editing the
article. This will let the rest of the Magazine team know that it's
ready to be edited and queued for publishing. (Also, your screenshot is
embedded in the article, and even though it's not showing up right now,
we're working on fixing a bug with our CDN to show images correctly...
but it is there.)
Thanks again for your time and effort working on this!
