Hi Neal,
Thanks for bring this up.
I'm aware that openbox is no longer being actively maintained. Being the
main maintainer for Fedora LXQt spin recently, I am not thinking about
moving to kwin at this moment. LXQt is easily configurable so users who
want to switch to kwin can easily do it themselves. OTOH I still want to
keep LXQt spin small in terms of ISO size. Last year we even got
complaints about bringing a lot of kde packages as dependency.
As this thread has the mailing list copied, let's also hear what others
say. I will keep this in mind.
Thanks.

Hey all,
I noticed that LXQt uses Openbox instead of Kwin for the
compositor/window manager. However, Openbox has been dead for almost
six years[1] and doesn't seem to have a path to Wayland. Meanwhile, it
seems Kwin works quite well with LXQt[2] and supports both X11 and
Wayland. Moreover, it's actively maintained and seems to improve the
responsiveness of the LXQt desktop.
Have you folks considered moving from Openbox to Kwin with LXQt 0.16.0
in Fedora 34?
