Hi,
I was having a talk with 'smooge' on #fedora-admin about my interest to join the sysadmin team and he told me that the Insight Team is looking for help on its infrastructure.
He gave me Paul Frields's mail and he told me to contact him since I was interested in the position. I am therefore here to present myself to the list, here are some pointers:
- http://people.gnome.org/~av - I've been working on the Ubuntu-it website for around two years.
I am really happy to have joined back a great community like Fedora is.
Thanks in advance and have a great day,
Andrea

Hi Andrea, it's good to meet you. The basics of our setup are documented on our wiki page:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Insight
We are finishing up some packaging efforts that should allow us to get FWN to start publishing on Insight -- and we can make the instance "official" (move to production) when our theming is complete.
Peter Borsa is working on some of the code features; Jef van Schendel is working on themes. Both are subscribed here and I would invite you to ask questions or tell us what part of the system you feel most comfortable working with. Are you comfortable with Drupal development? Or are you interested in working on some other aspect of the system?

yeah, had a wide look at it already.

sure. My original idea was to work on anything web related, adding content, administrating and moderating new content, helping out on anything else we might need to have the insight infrastructure working. (from packaging to having a working drupal install handy for our needs)
cheers,
Andrea

We have a publictest instance right now, which I think is noted on the page. Peter might be able to use some help with packaging -- Peter, speak up if that's so. I've been doing reviews on packages and keeping up pretty well there.
I'd like to make sure that any features or customizations that Peter's been working on his personal sandbox get properly documented on our customization pages:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Insight_customizations_to_Drupal https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Insight_content_configuration
Perhaps you could get with Peter and help with that, Andrea?

Please try to avoid private messaging with /MSG unless you *really* need to make communications private. When you use private messages, no one can tell you're working on our open source project. If you talk publicly, it gives other people a chance to (1) learn, (2) get involved, and (3) get excited.
/MSG should be avoided except when really needed.
Peter, you and I spoke last week about getting your sandboxed customizations onto the publictest4 system. We would like testing to be centralized there, where we're making use of our FakeFAS system. Can you work on moving that stuff over?
Hi!
Paul, sure. When do you want to move? Tonight, tomorrow?

What about tonight? If there are any problems, we can work on it tomorrow at the latter part of our meeting.

I agree with your point of view here. (had to chat a big with peter about his sandbox, so I thought spamming the list wasnt a great idea)
cheers,

Using public IRC in #fedora-mktg for this is not only acceptable, but very much welcome! :-) Open source development requires visibility to amplify success.
