any idea on what file is using at the very beginning during automatic bootup? is that the splash in /boot/grub?
No. We don't use grub and therefore don't use the grub splash -- grub and syslinux both have very different requirements on their splash images. Instead /usr/lib/anaconda-runtime/syslinux-vesa-splash.jpg is used for isolinux/syslinux
