A SC 4.5 snapshot in the openSUSE had broken artwork at some point.
All icons were back to normal during that time.
That could mean
that manually deleting the files could do the trick.

I believe
this is by-design to make oxygen systray icons
monochromatic,
there have been several discussions/flames
already on other kde
lists.
I'm not aware of any practical ability to revert this
(short of
designing your own oxygen-like icon theme that reverts
only
these
related icons).
