When Qt speaks about the "xcb windowing system", they really mean the X11
windowing system, but there are 2 ways to access it:
1. the legacy libX11 C library, and
2. the modern XCB (X C Bindings) C library (libxcb).
For a while during Qt 5 development, both the old libX11 backend and the new
XCB one were present in Qt code, and thus they had to be distinguished. So
the new X11 backend using XCB was known as the "XCB backend", and the name
stuck. This also serves as a distinction in case it is not clear whether a
user is talking about Qt 4 (old X11 backend) or Qt 5 (new XCB backend).

Thank you for the explanation. I would have assumed to read "KDE
Windowing System" or something similar, but this makes sense, thanks
again!
