How can I disable the "built-in" Plasma one? I think that's the point,
is that you can turn the icon off, but the plasmoid stays activated.

There are 2 clipboard managers:
Plasma's "clipboard" applet
Klipper
I don't know for sure, but I'm guessing it's probably not a good idea to
use
both at the same time.
And yes, they both can be disabled.
