On a Wow factor. I would have to give KDE 4.2 a Wo plus half of the final w. :)
There was obviously a heck of a lot of improvements made to underlying code. Heck, I've even restored Konqueror as my default browser. Nspluginwrapper / flash is snappier in Konqueror than in Firefox. There are of course few of my favorite features still missing but the result is getting more and more impressive with every release.
Absolutely fantastic.

It would appear not. However, if you have a dual monitor system you can have seperate wallpapers for each monitor. I know that doesn't help much, but I thought I would mention it.

Interesting. I hope they add that feature back. Old users except it, and Gnome users don't have it

Haven't bothered yet as it is essentially a regression from 3.5. May have to do so if it isn't in 4.2

It can't hurt. Who knows (shrug)... it may actually help :).

I think it is planned. In 4.1 Activities could have a different wallpaper each, but you couldn't do much with them at that time. I haven't explored Activities in 4.2 yet - I'll try to get to it this weekend and tell you if things have moved along.
