The 'something' is most likely some other krunner plugins. the most
likely candidate is nepomuk.
click the wrench on krunner, and disable plugins that you don't want
until it behaves better. If you can identify any particular
trouble-makers, let us know.
Thanks very much Rex, I'm sorry that I don't have enough spare cycles
to do a proper troubleshooting of this : I just disabled everything
but the calculator, the app launcher and the command line which are
all that I use.
