FYI,
I made a copr for latest kf5-based ktorrent (and libktorrent) available at: https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/rdieter/ktorrent
Pending this bug getting addressed before landing in fedora: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=362092

I think I've found one annoyance with ktorrent-5.0.1-1 but not sure if it is due to being kf5 based.
I have about 1370 torrents. In the past when I quit the client the GUI would close immediately and ktorrent would continue to run in the background updating, if need be, the torrent data.
Now, the GUI remains open during the process and it can feel as if the process is "frozen".
