I didn't disable html mail in kmail yet, but I suspect that kmail isn't
handling html correctly. I prefer html, as it makes mail more readable and
enjoyable to others. Everyone uses it. Almost all the mail I get is html.
People send clippings of websites, like travel itineraries, brochures of
events, etc. Modern communication would not be possible without. We'd be
back to using pine, or some hellish system.
I'm not sure how to turn html off on a message by message basis, but
knode doesn't have that feature -- it seems to be all plain text.
You may find it enjoyable for private mail, but those of us that read lists
constantly don't find it enjoyable at all. Besides, it's only good manners to
respect the wishes of your host - in this case the host is the mailing list.
