Granted. You get used to a way of doing things. But logically speaking. Logically that is. It really not that much different. The pain in the behind is to remember to hold down the alt key while selecting the application with your mouse. Be that as it may, I rarely use such a feature because everything is displayed before me in the task manager on one of my panels. If you really do have a lot of apps open, you could always try grouping your applications that way they remain full width. If you use task manager in a panel that is. Each to his own.
