Please check Settings -> ConfigureĀ  Dolphin -> Navigation -> Open folders during drag operations

OK, I see it. I don't usually have that enabled.

It does do as you say. However:

1) I really want it in the main pane, not the sidebar.

2) The window does not pop to the top of the stack i.e. if the target
folder is covered by another window, it doesn't make itself visible. In
some cases it's just possible to scroll to the right position while
keeping the left button depressed, but not always and in any case it's
error-prone.

This strikes me as poor UI design and I'm surprised that it hasn't come
up before now. I'll consider filing a BZ.
