What exactly happens when you enable composition?
I was afraid you were going to say that,
When I select the Enable Desktop Effects check box and click apply this
pops up:
"Failed to activate desktop effects using the given configuration options.
Settings will be reverted to their previous values.
Check your X configuration. You may also consider changing advanced
options, especially changing the compositing type."
