>From my understanding, pinentry is used for dealing with gpg keys. Like you indicate, once you get past pinentry opening then everything seems to be OK. So, it would seem that everytime you try to create a new email, you are running a new instance of pinentry and that what seems to be taking up the time. At least from the description of whats going on so far.
