For what it's worth, I still think that this is very broken. This worked
much better in the KDE 3→4 transition (where upstream did not change the
settings folder). Some distros did use a different folder for KDE 4
settings, and some upstream developers think we were insane to not override
the default they shipped, but IMHO having shared settings is much better for
consistency. So I really don't like the KF5 setup. :-(

I for one think it is better to follow standards that way software
developers don't have to ship different set of instructions for
different distributions and desktop environments.
