This is true when you click on the entry under Kickoff-
Computer, or on
the icon under the Places menu. When you click on the
Notifier entry you
do get a popup (at least I do).
I don't use kickoff and the
notifier didn't pop up a window.
Configuration difference?
(Also, the Notifier text is misleading. It refers to "Devices
recently
plugged in", but I also see my external USB hard drive which
is never
unplugged and has been there since boot time. It should
really
say
"Removable devices")

I would argue that it's not very visible, but that's a matter
of taste.
Yeah. KDE3 had just a tiny green arrow overlayed on the icon.
This is an improvement, but not the best it could be.
