It isn't supposed to show up in either. The relevant desktop file
contains "NoDisplay=true" which according to [1] means it shouldn't be
displayed. If anything this is a bug in gnome. Both kde and gnome have
better alternatives. In the case of kde try konsole.

Does it make sense for KDE to observe NoDisplay strictly? Eg should not
searching for xterm in the launcher work regardless of NoDisplay?
