That may be true. But it doesn't alter the fact that KMail is absurdly complicated. What does akonadi add to KMail? I assume it should make integration with Kontact better, but in fact it is even worse than it was before, which is saying something.
I have no idea. I gave up on Kmail a very long time ago and use Evolution (under KDE). It has its own problems from time to time but in general I'm happy with it.
