2 things to consider/try
* disable prelinking ( edit /etc/sysconfig/prelink to include PRELINKING=no), and re-run,
/etc/cron.daily/prelink
* is nvidia binary driver involved?
both of these items have been involved in kio_file problems in the past.
I was also thinking about another "workaround".
He has it set to "Start with an empty session". I am wondering if things would
improve if he sets it to "Restore manually saved session" and saves an
"empty" session.
