+1 ! Mine is sometimes completely frozen and nothing can come it back :/ But mostly, openning System Activity with Ctrl + Esc is fixin it, as a workaround.

no, i am speaking from have a rsync running on TTY3 far away from
KDE and KDE freezes the whole time, becomes shortly responsive until
it freezes again what happens so often that it is unuseable until
the USB-I/O is finished
