Disturbing or not, it's a welcome change to *me* that kde is now using XDG
standard locations, see references to XDG_CONFIG_HOME and XDG_DATA_HOME on
http://standards.freedesktop.org/basedir-spec/basedir-spec-latest.html
Note to self: submit addendum to spec stating "Applications should store
their configurations within a named subfolder within XDG_CONFIG_HOME."
~/.config/kde5 would have been perfect, following the same namely scheme as
everyone else. They are following the spec, but the spec should've gone one
step further
