Opening a browser window on the same desktop
by Patrick O'Callaghan
Sorry for the vague title but here's the situation:
When I click on a URL in Evolution, I get a browser window, but said
window invariably opens on the desktop where the browser originally
launched when I started my session, meaning I have to switch desktops
to see it.
Is there some magic that will always respond to clicks by opening tghe
window on the desktop where the click happened?
I'm not even sure if this is a KDE question, an X11 question, a kwin
question, a Plasma question, a browser question or what (though I don't
think it's an Evolution question).

Spectacle shortcut not working after upgrading to Fedora 33
by Sudhir Khanger
I can't launch Spectacle with Print shortcut anymore. I can see Spectacle shortcut in Custom and Global shortcut settings. I can't set spectacle shortcut in the global shortcut settings. If I do set the shortcut in global shortcut settings then they go back to being unset as soon as I navigate away from the screen.

Missing Icons on F33
by Gerald B. Cox
I opened a bug report here:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1894700
Firefox icons are missing from application launcher after upgrade. I tried
erasing .local, .kde and .config directories and starting from scratch, but
that didn't work.
The other application this is affecting is amule from the rpmfusion repo.
I also tried deleting and re-installing both firefox and amule... that
didn't help either.
Is this a kde issue or an application packaging issue?
Since Fx is involved, I would think that more people would be howling about
it if it were pervasive, so possibly something got smurfed in my kde
configuration during the upgrade, but I would have thought doing the steps
above would have corrected... so I must be missing something, but don't
know what that would be.
Thanks!

What's loading Dolphin?
by Mark @ GMail
Every time I start Fedora it loads Dolphin, which I don't want.
Where should I look for it doing that (so I can stop it)?
I also notice that, even though I've closed it, there's still a (small)
dolphin process running... what's that about?
Thanks in advance

Display sizing - plasma wayland vs gnome wayland
by Ed Greshko
Pardon the cross-post. I sent this first to testing since I am using rawhide as that seems the most
stable with plasma-wayland.
I have rawhide installed in a kvm vm. Both plasma and gnome desktops are installed and sddm is
the DM.
After logging in to a gnome session the screen will resize to fill whatever the VM's window is.
No matter if the VM's window is a standard resolution or not.
When logging into a plasma-wayland session the screen will not resized and one has to use the
display settings to pick a "close enough" resolution. This is so, even though the sddm login screen
fills the non-standard display size.
Additionally, a non-wayland plasma session does what gnome does and what I believe is the
preferred behavior.
Would I be correct in thinking that this would be a bugzilla against kwin-wayland?

login session information
by Ed Greshko
I know that the available sessions for sddm are kept in
/usr/share/xsessions and /usr/share/wayland-sessions
What I can't find, and don't recall, is where does sddm get the information on which session a user
last used.
It doesn't seem to be in a user's directory. So, where is it?

F33: Plasma won' t start on X11
by Patrick O'Callaghan
I installed F33 from Fedora-KDE after a complete system wipe, then restored
my /home from backups. Now I can' t log in with X11, only with Wayland.
After a brief interval the login screen reappears. The session manager is
SDDM.
KDE on Wayland is terrible in its current state and I don't want to use it.
Where should I look for the error? I created a test user and was able to
log in using X so I imagine it's something in my own configuration, but there
is no .xession-errors file.
