ibus input not working on Plasma widgets
by Syam Krishnan
Hello,
I have ibus configured for Indic language input (Malayalam mostly).
While I am able to correctly type in Thunderbird, Kate, Dolphin address
bar etc, it does not work in Plasma widgets - desktop notes or KRunner.
Do I need to install anything special or make any configurations
specifically for Plasma widgets?
On Fedora 26, KDE Spin, x86-64
Thanks,
Syam

Ctrl-Meta-8 in Konsole
by Patrick Boutilier
Any idea what the purpose is? Shows stuff from /etc/hosts . Also works
with other keys after Ctrl-Meta but that will also add to your command
line (usually an s).

dnfdragora updater
by Mattia Verga
Is there any way to stop dnfdragora-updater to show in the taskbar? I
can't find any setting in the main dnfdragora gui and right-click/exit
doesn't prevent it to show up again at next startup.

f26 and konqueror
by John Pilkington
Hi: My upgrade from 25 to f26 went fairly smoothly although
installation of an unexpected nvidia update deleted all the downloaded
packages before they had been used...
But as a longstanding user of konqueror as file manager I'm finding
things have changed. I had set 'kdesu kfmclient openProfile
filemanagement' in the launcher, with a warning colour scheme for use as
root, and I have the kannolo-root-unlocker installed - but it just quits
after entering the password, and using 'Ignore' produces
'error:/?error=105&errText=' although it can then be used as non-root.
All my old bookmarks have vanished too.
I see there's a query on the fedora list about Open Office compatibility
too. I haven't investigated that.
I'm aware that konq has been out of fashion for a long time - but am I
missing some compatibility package?
TIA,
John P

Latest K desktop update causes system hangs
by Temlakos
Everyone:
What did the developers do to the K Desktop?
This morning I took the upgrade--all 100-odd parts of it. And ever since
then, I cannot afford to leave my system on for more than an hour--two
hours at the outside--without having it get progressively slower and
then hang up. I've had to force-shutdown my system and restart it to get
anything done. I've tried reverting to the "last known good kernel." No
joy. The desktop is now at fault.
I wouldn't know where to begin for filing a bug--what do I file the bug
against? All I know is--it's going to take another K desktop upgrade to
fix this. Until then, I'm running my system only intermittently.

KDE mounted USB stick, cannot copy files to.
by Robin Laing
Hello,
Just updated my F26 and went to copy some files to a stick for transfer.
If I try to copy a file either with drag and drop or using Konsole and
cp, the system will not copy the full file and will just freeze. I
tried different sticks on the system with no luck.
I have tested with the same results on two different computers with
different sticks.
It looks like I can copy small files but large files won't work. Even
if I try copy files using sudo, it still does the same thing, using 3 or
4 processors to 100% and the copy process hangs.
I can mount the stick manually using sudo and copy files with no issue.
Mount differences are:
This is what mount shows when I use the KDE desktop
/dev/sdc1 on /run/media/user/MyStick type vfat
(rw,nosuid,nodev,relatime,uid=1100,gid=1100,fmask=0022,dmask=0022,codepage=437,iocharset=ascii,shortname=mixed,showexec,utf8,flush,errors=remount-ro,uhelper=udisks2)
Mounting by sudo
/dev/sdc1 on /mnt/temp type vfat
(rw,relatime,fmask=0022,dmask=0022,codepage=437,iocharset=ascii,shortname=mixed,errors=remount-ro)
ps shows that the process is waiting for the drive with a D+ in the
status. It will do this for an hour if I leave it.
I don't know where to start looking to report a bug to provide more
details for the bug report.

Have you tried to just restart the desktop.
I have to do this every once in a while when the machine starts doing
weird things.
kquitapp5 plasmashell && kstart plasmashell
