Re: Adding application launchers to Plasma 5 panel
by Rex Dieter
One way I like to do it, is run the app in question, then in the task manager, right click it's entry and check the box labeled:
"show a launcher when not running"
(This works in both plasma5 and kde-workspace-4.x)

Subject: Adding application launchers to Plasma 5 panel
Hi again
In kde4 I can right-click on an application in the kickoff start menus
and select 'Add to panel'.
How would I add an application launcher to the panel in Plasma 5? There
is apparently no 'Add to panel' and drag and drop doesn't seem to work
except to the desktop.
Thanks.
Roderick Johnstone

Re: all windows borderless by default in KF5?
by Rex Dieter
OK, I guess all I can say is that there *are* borders, but they are relatively small. Not sure if this is configurable in breeze (I couldn't find anything quickly offhand).

I've seen no borders on any windows since KDE4 was removed from the F22 and
Rawhide repos. Is this an intentional "feature" of the default theme?

Removing system items from Leave menu in Plasma 5
by Roderick Johnstone
Hi
I'd like to remove the System items (Sleep, hibernate, restart and
shutdown) from the Leave menu in Application Launcher on Plasma 5 on a
system-wide basis.
How would I do that please?
Thanks

Wow - I'm impressed, Thanks Guys...

I used FedUP to upgrade to F22 and had no issues. The new Plasma looks
great IMO; yes things are a bit different which will take some time getting
used to, and I'm sure I'll notice a glitch here and there, but it is
extremely nice. I have a few apps which have issues (Insync doesn't show
up in the notification area), and I'll report those upstream.
It is a bit slow on my laptop (but KDE4 was also... underpowered laptop),
but the solution for that which works for me is LXQt with Kwin5. It allows
me to get the niceness of the new KWin without all the bells and whistles
my poor laptop doesn't have the power to take advantage of. I'll reserve
the Plasma razzle/dazzle for my Desktop.
Thanks again everyone for the hard work. It is much appreciated

kf5 apps that care often migrate settings as appropriate. That's what kconf_update scripts are for.
Except in this case, it's more than just settings, it's content.

well, that means in other words when you upgrade to F22 with KDE5 you
lose practically all your customizations and start from scratch - bad

I am talking about per user wallpapers.
It was.... ~/.kde/share/wallpapers
now.... ~/.local/share/wallpapers
So, if you've used the tools to download personal wallpapers....well I think you see what I mean.
