another note about qtwebkit 2.3
by Steven J Pappas
Another note about qtwebkit2.3, it renders Bibletime (based on sword
library) inoperable. It will open and see the menu up above, but when
you try to select any translation, the window is blank. I have informed
Bibletime developers about this. I have put a yum exclusion on qtwebkit
for now after downgrading to qtwebkit2.2. Hope this helps.

Hello Rex,
Fantastic, just what I need and I really need it now. Please consider
packaging Kdevelop next. I am certainly going to test your packages and report
back as soon as I get back from Easter holidays.
Please let me know if you support in any way can help speed things up.
Keep up the good work!

confusion on system-settings/add a new printer
by Neal Becker
2 machines on the same lan. On one, 'add a new printer' shows
'Discovered Network Printers'
On the other, there is no such section. Is perhaps some software missing on the
latter to enable that service?
Both are fedora f18, but 1 is kde 4.10.2 and the other is kde 4.10.1.

Invisible .pdf files
by Timothy Murphy
I've recently downloaded two files from different sites,
using Firefox under Fedora-18/KDE .
(One was a Ubuntu tutorial from Lockergnome.)
In each case the file is immediately opened in acroread
(ie I don't start acroread).
In one case the name given in acroread was 13656_0_ .
I found this file is in /var/tmp/kdecache-tim/krun ,
though it is not shown by locate even after updatedb ,
and copied it to a more permanent position.
But what puzzles me is: is this a deliberate feature
to semi-hide files for some reason?
Or has there been a recent change in Firefox or Acroread?
Or have I misunderstood in some way?

kde on sl6 - can't find it
by John Pilkington
Hi: I've been using kde, now on f17 and sl6, for several years.
Last week, after what I remember, if at all, as a small update, the sl6
system wouldn't complete booting. It couldn't find LogVol-lv_home.
Eventually I posted on the sl6 list and was told to reinstall lvm2 and
lvm2-libs. I did, and after vgscan, lvscan, the reboot seemed ok. I
don't know what had triggered removal of the lvm tools.
The next reboot would only return to the login screen, unless I
selected the Gnome worktop, when many things seem to work, but obviously
the familiar kde feel and tools are missing.
I can see the Xorg.log, in which uid 500 and gid 500 get disconnected.
Is that the problem? Do I need to be in the >1000 domain now? And if
so, how? Gnome doesn't show me any User-management tools.
Most of the above was with the standard SL6.3/6.4 setup, but having no
success with that I tried kde-testing+unstable. The installation looked
as if it went ok, but I'm still stuck with Gnome.
Of course, if I do get 4.10.2 working I would like MythTV as well. That
had been doing fine, with an ATrpms-derived specfile building a newer
release than the latest on the ATrpms site, but I suspect that going
further is going to defeat me.
For now, I'd just like to get back to kde.
Suggestions please.

Install Plasma Resources???
by Lester Petrie
I installed F18 last week, and now when I log in, I get a pop up message
box with the subject as the title. The top line then says "Plasma
requires an additional service for this operation". Then there is an
icon with "script engine" out to the side. Finally, at the bottom, it
says "The following service is required. Do you want to search for this
now?", and a Continue button and a Cancel button. When I click on the
Continue, it comes back with "Failed to search for Plasma service" as
the top line, and a big yellow triangle with "Could not find service in
any configured software source" There is a Close button that deletes
the message box. What is it looking for? What do I do to make it quit
coming up? The only other strange thing that I observe that might
possibly be connected is that when I try to start yumex, it fails with a
message
YUM: The value for the SHELL variable was not found the /etc/shells file
/etc/shells has all the entries that are in it on another machine where
yumex works.

volume control buggy in 4.10.2
by Neal Becker
kmix is very buggy after updating to 4.10.2.
There's a lot of lag in touching the volume up/down controls, and after fiddling
a few times, now the plasma is stuck on the screen, and kmix is completely
unresponsive. This is repeatable.
Don't know if these .xsession-errors are related:

AboutToShow() before timeout

systray oddity ... should this be bugzilla'd ?
by Ed Greshko
Running fully updated F18 system and this had been bugging me from time to time but I thought it was a problem with my aging mouse. Pardon me if I use the wrong technical terms....
On the systray there is a small triangle near the clock. If you mouse over it a pop-up displays "Show hidden icons". Clicking on it brings up a list. Now if your mouse cursor is all the way over to the left you can move the cursor up and down and each entry will be highlighted in turn. However, if your cursor is over to the right your mouse needs to be over at least one letter in the text for that entry to be highlighted. Seems to me that even moving the mouse over "empty" space should result in the entry being highlighted.
Worthy of a bugzilla? If so, what component?
