testing kde-telepathy
by Christos Lazaridis
Hi,
While checking out the kde-telepathy from kde-testing, I was getting failures
when I tried to connect to my google talk account. I soon discovered that ktp-
auth-handler was not installed.
I was just wondering whether this package should be pulled in by default when
installing ktp.
cheers,
Christos.

Fedora KDE Plasma Workspace Test Day - 2012-04-10
by Jaroslav Reznik
Hi,
there will be Fedora KDE Test Day tomorrow and I hope you
will join us to help making our spin better ;-) Yep, we
forgot about Easter holidays, but...
The Test Day will be held the whole day, we try to cover
most timezones (as our presence allows).
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Day:2012-04-10_KDE_4.8
See you at #fedora-test-day
One note: if you're going to use rc3 in kvm, use qxl/spice
combination as there's breakage using cirrus/vnc.

KMail/dovecot from remote server
by Timothy Murphy
I'm running KMail on my laptop,
collecting mail from a remote dovecot server over openVPN.
Ping time to the server is about 250ms.
This works reasonably well, except that I get frequent messages
to say that the link to the server has been lost.
I often ping-check the link in such a case,
and it seems to be fine.
A worse symptom is that sometimes I get the message
"Retrieving folder contents" which remains there apparently for ever
preventing me reading any mail.
I have to re-start with Ctl-Alt-Backspace to get KMail working again.
I suspect that this may have something to do with the "wallet"
though I am not sure about this.
I wonder if any other KMail users have the same experience?

RTL8192e-pci NIC in Networkmanager
by Jan Simonson
Hello,
I'm using a Samsung R720 laptop with a RTL8192e-pci NIC and Fedora 16. The
driver has been in kmod-staging from fusion until recently. Now it is removed
from staging and instead a driver is included in the kernel pack from Fedora.
After booting with this new kernel the relevant modules are loaded (see below)
but the wireless connection is not available in Networkmanager. Using the
module earlier from Fusion worked most of the time and better and better over
time.

ktp vis-à-vis telepathy-qt4
by Peter G.
Curious about ktp-*.
Should I uninstall telepathy-qt4* first?
I am confused, but it seems to be a duplication of the same, non?

Weird behavior Dolphin
by Martin Kho
Hi,
With the new 'smooth' scrolling mode (detailes view mode) in Dolphin, I have
some issues with refreshing of directory content. e.g. I've rebuild a srpm
that puts it's output in BUILDROOT (i've disabled the remove statement in the
spec file) . ls -al /rpmbuild/BUILDROOT in Konsole shows that the output is
there, but Dolphin, even after pressing F5 (reload), doesn't show it. Dolphin
have to be closed and restart Dolphin the get the correct content.
This is kde-4.8.2-1 on a fully updated F17.
Does anyone else have seen this?
Thanks,
Martin Kho

KAddressBook on a server?
by Timothy Murphy
I see there have been some advances in KAddressBook,
eg it can now use my Google contacts.
But I'm wondering if it is possible to keep KAdddressBook contacts
on my server, so that they are available anywhere on my LAN?
At present I am using an OpenLDAP contact list on the server.
KMail can see this, but I don't think I can add contacts
from KAddressBook (or KMail) to the OpenLDAP database.
It's a bit hard to tell, as the KAddressBook online manual
is seriously deficient.
(I suppose one shouldn't complain too much,
as previously it was 1 line long.
But I don't understand how people can go to so much trouble
developing an application, and not document it properly,
or sometimes at all.)

What is virtuoso-t doing?
by Timothy Murphy
When I reboot and login into my Fedora-16/KDE laptop
I see from "top" that virtuoso-t is taking
150$ or more of my CPU.
This lasts for a minute or two,
and results in the boot being very Windows-like,
ie nothing can be done until virtuoso-t calms down.
I think this has only been happening fairly recently.
I certainly don't recall it with older versions of Fedora.
But is virtuoso-t doing something useful
that has to be completed before I can use the laptop?
