konq as kfm new annoyances
by Gene Smith
I still use konq as my kde file manager instead of dolphin mainly for 2
reasons:
1. Can split screen top and bottom (not just left and right)
2. Has bookmarks
Anyhow, what I have noticed now with 4.4 is two new annoyances.
1. When anything pops up in konq (as file mgr) instead of a nice small
dialog it comes up the exact same size of the konq. window and covers
it. For example, when you are copying a file and the name exists at the
destination.
2. When you rename a file (F2 or right click rename) konq. scoots the
original file name to the left and out of sight while you are typing
until you hit enter. (Actually, I just checked and dolphin does this
too. I assume konq and dolphin share a lot of code.)
I assume these are kde bugs (or issues) and not something fedora12 is
causing, but not sure.

You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem
You could try running: package-cleanup --problems
package-cleanup --dupes
rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest

Just tested the URL in Firefox and Chrome without issue.

Nepomuk resources usage limit
by Dj YB
hello,
is there a way to limit Nepomuk resources (cpu / memory) usage,
and even better that it will only work while the session is idle for some
time...
I will be glad to have this kind of setting,
thanks,
YB.

Thanks for the updates
by Arthur Pemberton
1) just tab-grouped my first pair of windows, sweet.
2) copy and paste seems to work in Eclipse now, not sure what happened
but I'm hoping it stays so (it previously had an unfavourable reaction
with Klipper)

KDE 4.4.1 in Updates-Testing?
by Mitchell Richters
Hello,
I was just wondering when 4.4.1 might hit Updates-Testing. 4.4.0, a major
release, did not take this long to hit testing (I think).
I looked on Koji and there's only one build of kdelibs and kdenetwork for
FC12, surely that must they're stable enough for distribution? I haven't
seen any emails through on the list with anyone mentioning showstoppers...
Cheers, Mitch.

RFC: Minimum requirements for default applications
by Rex Dieter
Here's a very basic proposal that came out of discussions that happened
primarily leading up to and at FUDCon Toronto.
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/User:Rdieter/FUDCon_Toronto_KDE_F13_TODOs
I'll have to clean that page up, and move it to the /KDE namespace, but the
basic idea is that we should set some basic criteria to help choose default
applications for our fedora kde spin. Based on this objective criteria, it
will help us make wiser (and defendable!) choices.
I should point out that at our last SIG meeting, it was agreed that criteria
should be separated between 'minimal/required' and 'nice-to-have' ones.
This, I haven't done yet (sorry).
Anyway, the type of feedback we're looking for here is brainstorm:
1. different types of default apps (ie, those not listed yet).
2. new/different selection criteria. for example, it should probably be
explicitly mentioned that we would give a slight preference for native
qt/kde applications.
3. criticism of criteria already listed.
Thanks.

Dolphin tabs
by Petrus de Calguarium
I have 3 hard drives and like to keep one tab for
each drive open.
Whenever I start Dolphin, however, it opens with
only one tab, even though I closed it with 3 tabs
open.
Is there a way to make Dolphin remember that it was
closed with 3 tabs and to reopen each tab to the
default location for each (likely the root of each
of my hard drives)?
