Constant reboot
by Anne Wilson
Since I ended up with a large number of zombie processes for chromium-browser
I decided to shut down the laptop completely, to get a clean, cold boot.
There I came unstuck. This is F12, fully updated. The bubble fills up, I
see the Fedora logo, then it reboots. I could try to catch it and get a
level 3 login, of course, but since I haven't a clue what's causing this, I
wouldn't know what to do next. Any ideas?

akonadi has problems to start
by Martin (KDE)
Hallo all
with the 4.4.0 kde release I got my akonadi up and running. The 4.4.1
update brought me some minor problems with my fully updated F12
system.
After a fresh login I lost my address book. So I stopped akonadi,
exited kontact, removed .local/share/akonadi folder and restarted
akonadi. It created all the needed files, started up and I got my
address book back.
After the next login I got an akonadi error message which stated that
the data from my traditional imap-address book could not be read.
Additionally I got the error in my akonadi log:
[ERROR] Can't open and lock privilege tables: Table 'mysql.servers'
doesn't exist
I have to run the command:
mysql_install_db --datadir=$HOME/.local/share/akonadi/db_data/
To get the server running without an error. I don't know what was
going wrong here, but automatic creation seems to fail on my host. And
I still have one warning that the protocol version can not be checked
without a connection to the server. I don't know which server (nepomuk
or akonadi) but both are running.
And what I don't get: Why do they need so many (different) database
servers? Nepomuk (virtuoso), Amarok (MySQL), Akonadi (MySQL) ... I
think it is time to get a general KDE Database path with a
configuration dialog and an "make it work again" option.
Martin
PS: MySQL version gives: mysql Ver 14.14 Distrib 5.1.44, for redhat-
linux-gnu (i386) using readline 5.1

Where is chromium's profile?
by Anne Wilson
Does anyone know where chromium stores your profile? After a bad crash I lost
all my tabs, and every time I start it now it says that it can't read my
profile. It tells me to check that it exists and that I have rw access to it
- but so far I haven't found it.

Mount options for removable volumes
by Patrick O'Callaghan
I want to modify the default mount options for pendrives (in this case
to add "noatime"). Since mounting is done via the Device Notifier, that
would seem to be the place to start. I've looked under System
Settings/Advanced/Device Actions but I don't see any obvious way to make
the change. There doesn't seem to be anything under /etc/udev either, or
in /etc/fstab. Where is this stuff set up?

Some changes with 4.4.0
by Orion Poplawski
This is a bit of a followup to discussion on fedora-devel. Here are
some changes with 4.4.0 for one of my users that happened today:
- Background went completely white - previously was the blue/grey
background. This is just one of those annoying things that seem to
happen fairly frequently with KDE updates. Doesn't take a whole lot of
time to fix, but is still annoying.
- Panel is partially black with very hard to read transparent icons on
it. See attached. Several users have gotten this. I seem to remember
a bug on this, but can't find it now. Intel video (82G33/G31). This is
pretty tough to live with.

kde bug reporting assistant broken?
by Neal Becker
OK, second time I tried to report a bug. It's not me.
After putting a sentence explaining what I was doing before the crash, I get
a dialog asking if I can tell some more. I choose no. Then my only choice
is quit of save the information - not send it in. And, if I pick save, and
then I see it means save to a file, and I cancel, the whole thing just
quits. This is exactly what happened the last time. Really frustrating
that I spent all the effort to download debuginfo, check dups, and it was a
complete waste of time.

klipper slow to respond
by Anne Wilson
Since the advent of 4.4 klipper has been unresponsive for some 10-15 seconds
when I create a new link, during which time I can't paste links. Am I right
in thinking this is nepomuk related?
For that matter, I find that these days I have to open klipper and select the
newly created link before I can paste it. Am I stuck with this one, or is
there some configuration setting that would go back to defaulting to the
newest item?
