kwebkitpart default or optional for F15+?
by alekcejk@googlemail.com
Hi,
kwebkitpart will be not installed as kdebase and kdenetwork dependency sinse KDE 4.6.
So we should decide to add kwebkitpart to comps as default or optional.
This is was discussed on KDE-SIG meeting
http://meetbot.fedoraproject.org/fedora-meeting/2010-11-23/kde-sig.2010-1...
3 votes for default and 2 votes for optional, need more discussion.
In KDE < 4.6 kwebkitpart was installed by default as dependency of kdebase,
kdenetwork and konq-plugins. Users had possibility to select between KHTML
and WebKit view modes in Konqueror. Some sites works better with WebKit.
So if we decide to not install kwebkitpart as default then some users
may lose needed WebKit functionality if they reinstall F15 system.

Building KDevelop3 RPM on Fedora 14
by Sonic
Hello
I'm trying to build KDevelop 3.x RPM for Fedora. I wish to call it
kdevelop3 and be able to have it along with kdevelop (KDevelop4) that
comes bundled with Fedora. Does this 'wish' have serious flaws to
require considerable effort to implement?
I've made the following changes to the SPEC file:
1. changed 'Name' in the SPEC file to "kdevelop3"
2. added --program-suffix=3 to configure
Are the above changes sufficient or should I also add --prefix=SOME_PATH
to configure script?
Also, how do I meddle with the .desktop entries in the launcher menus to
call this KDevelop3 (like "Qt assistant" and "Qt4 Assistant")?
Any help is highly appreciated..

kde-4.5.80 incoming to rawhide
by Rex Dieter
fyi, I'm importing kde-4.5.80 (4.6beta1) in rawhide now, using
dist-f15-kde target (so we don't break rawhide in the interim). Got a
few initial deps updated first (attica, polkit-qt, soprano), and
oxygen-icons done.
kdelibs to follow soon.

Strigi crashes
by Sonic
Hello
I started using Nepomuk/Strigi recently and enabled indexing. I observed
that after a while, the indexing icon (in the systray) is vanishing.
When I check in System Settings, it shows that Strigi is disabled. If I
enable it again, it runs for a couple of seconds (the icon in the
systray appears) and again vanishes.
Instead of enabling it in System Settings, I started strigi from
terminal by doing:
nepomukservicestub nepomukstrigiservice
The same observations repeated. But when strigi crashed, I got the
following in the terminal:

Can anybody please explain what's happening here? Is it that a

I run Fedora 14 that was updated this morning ('yum update' from regular
stable repos).

useless kmail
by Dave Stevens
I just upgraded my box from F13 to F14. Using my usual gnome desktop I
started kmail. For the last half hour I've been staring at a
completely 100% useless screen.

suggestions?

Nepomuk keeps dying on me
by John Aldrich
I've started having problems with KMail recently -- every time I close it,
it appears Nepomuk shuts down and I have to manually open up Systemsettings
and start it. Using KDE 4.5.3 on Fedora 13 and KMail 1.13.5.
Any suggestions on how to fix it? I'm NOT running strigi as I have problems
keeping my system cool.

thunderbird not restored on login
by Roderick Johnstone
Hi
On F14 x86_64 I'm finding thunderbird is not started automatically by
the session restore when I log in. konsole and firefox are restored ok.
.xsession-errors contains:
Could not find 'thunderbird-bin' executable.
~/.kde/share/config/session/kwin_101bd16f1f3168000128940694700000064350000_1290075193_924529
contains:
wmCommand6=thunderbird-bin
thunderbird-bin is in /usr/lib64/thunderbird-3.1/ which isn't on the
PATH. Thunderbird is started as thunderbird which is in /usr/bin.
Could someone give me an indication where the right place to BZ this is.
Its not clear to me which component is has the bug. Maybe I just
shouldnt expect thunderbird to be restored in a kde session (although
firefox is).
I seem to remember raising this years ago, but can't remember where.
Thanks for any thoughts on this.
