Can't install python-based(?) widgets

"Could not create a python ScriptEngine for the Drop to Imageshack"
I've googled and found several messages, mostly about kubuntu, but no
solution. What am I missing?

kpackagekit ambiguity
by Neal Becker
kpackagekit 'review and update', 'not now', and 'do not ask again'.
Does that mean 'do not ask again about this particular package', or 'never ask
again about any updates'?

securing wake from sleep
by Bill McGonigle
Is it KDE's job to secure the screen/keyboard behavior when suspending
to RAM or disk?
I've noticed that on wake, with a password required for wake, that the
screen before sleeping is visible before it's blanked. Also, sometimes
I can send keyboard input to the system before the blanked screen kicks
in. The window of opportunity is pretty small for typing, and I can only
read the screen for a few seconds, but it's not a secure wake. I'm
testing this on a netbook which takes its sweet time doing anything.
Anyway, I don't really know which part of the stack should be handling
this - wanted to get some feedback before filing inappropriate bugs.
Thanks,
-Bill

Patch to Fix Kopete Bonjour Plugin
by Tejas Dinkar
I'd like to include the following patch to kdenetwork to fix the bonjour
plugin of kopete.
This corresponds to upstream commits 1022944 and 1023025
This applies cleanly to both 4.2 and 4.3 branches
This should not be needed post 4.3.2

* post-4.3.1 fixes
* future of Phonon
= Summary =
o Live images dependencies: breaking libcanberra-gtk2 dependency:
* libcanberra-gtk2 has an explicit require on gdm due to directory ownership.
* This drags in many gnome related packages on the KDE live images (gdm,
evolution-data-server, gnome-session, xulrunner etc.).
* A bug for this issue is already filed: #522998 - remove libcanberra-gtk2
dependency on gdm.
o post-4.3.1 fixes:
* Some bugfixes for KDE 4.3.1 will be pushed separately:
- kdepim: Crash when autocompleting LDAP (kde#206024) [2]
- kdenetwork: kopete/bonjour patch (from the mailing list)
- kdenetwork: krfb produces garbled display (#523131)
o future of Phonon:
* Deferred to next week, after getting upstream feedback and with the key KDE-
SIG people present.
o Open discussion:
* F12-snapshot2 is missing constantine-kde-theme (reason unknown, it is
present on SebastianVahl's current local spins).
* KevinKofler needs a reviewer for kio_gopher (#523355). JaroslavReznik has
volunteered.
* python-mwclient needs to be packaged ASAP (#520954). StevenParrish has
volunteered to take a look at it.

kernel 2.6.30.5-43.fc11.x86_64 will not boot
by Tim Wunder
Hi,
Anyone else having a problem booting the 2.6.30.5-43.fc11.x86_64 kernel?
Start-up seems to progress until just before the 2.6.29.4-167 kernel would
display 'kjournald starting' on the console. That message never displays on
the 2.6.30.5-43 kernel and the system will not boot.
Motherboard is an Asus m2n-sli deluxe, fwiw.

If you run a web server, read this
by Anne Wilson
This appeared on the CentOS mailing list:
<quote>
Linked below are details about a new outbreak of hijacked linux web
servers that dispense malware.
http://blog.unmaskparasites.com/2009/09/11/dynamic-dns-and-botnet-of-zombie-
web-servers/
I would highly recommend that you use nmap to scan all your Linux
webservers that are connected to the Internet to see if they are
listening on port 8080.
The best I can tell, there are no articles concerning how these guys
installed nginx or what is contained on a machine that has been
compromised. But the best way to tell is to see if you are listening on
port 8080 (if you are not supposed to be listening there). 8080 is a
common port for java apps to be running on, so listening on 8080 is not
always necessarily bad.
Thanks,
Johnny Hughes

kdm does not start on rawhide
by José Abílio Matos
Hi,
after the last update kdm does not start on rawhide as it complains that it
can find the wallpaper. Before digging too much the only option was to revert
to gdm.
Is there a report? Should I add this to bugzilla?
