What happend to the file-size view in Konqueror?
by Clemens Eisserer
Hi,
KDE-3.5's Konqueror supported displaying folders and files using
rectangles as large as the size of the file or folder.
This was great to get rid of unused, large files when cleaning up the
hard-drive.
What happend to that feature in KDE4? I haven't found it in KDE4's konqueror.
Is there a plugin to install that functionality again?
Thank you in advance, Clemens

QtMultimedia V. Phonon -- The full story?
by Ryan Rix
Hi guys,
I'm currently trying to start a KDE beat for next week's Fedora Weekly News,
and was hoping I could get a little clearing up on the whole state of
QtMultimedia in Qt 4.6.
What I know:
* Qt pulled Phonon into its API for the 4.4 release.
* QtMobility is creating a second Multimedia API which will be lower level
than Phonon which will be in Qt 4.6 under a QtMultimedia namespace.
* Fedora-KDE will be meeting next week with the upstream (kde) developers
regarding the future of Phonon in KDE.
* Some Fedora-KDE members (Kevin, Sho_, Rex(?)) believe the API to be
inferior and may end up becoming the main Multimedia API in Qt as Phonon
becomes older and older (via IRC logs)
What I don't know:
* What does this mean for KDE for KDE now, KDE4.4 (which will be on Qt 4.6?)
and the future of the project in general?
* Will KDE apps begin using QtMultimedia (or a KDE derivative) over Phonon?
* How do Fedora-KDE developers feel about this possible change and the new
API in general? There is, as always, both sides to the issue and I want to
capture both.
Sorry if I sound ignorant on the subject (I am) and thanks for helping me
out. This'll be in FWN next week under the (new) KDE beat if I can get a
handle on this issue.
Good night,
Ryan

KWallet always asks for password to open it
by Torstein Adolf Winterseth
Hi
This is probably a silly question but my KWallet always nag me about
the password to open it when I start up a KDE app that uses it.
Why does KWallet nag me about password, but the gnome one doesn't? How
do I fix it? I want it to work like gnome's.

Why isn't the Norwegian Nynorsk langpack available to KOffice 2.0?
by Torstein Adolf Winterseth
Hi
I am going to write a report, and I figured it might be a good chance
to try out KOffice 2. However, I can't find the koffice-langpack-nn in
the repos and I was wondering if it was because it doesn't exist or
some other reason.'
When I searched the web after it, I only saw v. 1.5. I'd really like
to have KOffice in my language :/

"Could not create a python-scriptengine"
by Torstein Adolf Winterseth
Hi
I am trying to add a plasmoid to my desktop to show the coming events
in my google calendar, but when I add it to my desktop it says "Could
not create a Python-ScriptEngine".
I tried to search for an answer and I was directed to
http://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=27052 but I couldn't find
any specific answer to my problem.
I assume I am missing a package or two but I don't know which ones.
I am running Fedora 11 64 bit with only stable repos enabled. Did an
update this morning so I'm fully updated.

Wireless Network knetworkmanager
by Christoph Kaulich
Hi,
I just tried to connect my Fedora 11 laptop with kd 4.3.1 updated today with
my WEP secured wireless network at home, but it wasn' working,
As I remember the logs, I had to boot to windows t write this mail, there
were problems with the dhclient, getting a IP adress.
It was working some days ago, using an somehow older looking
knetworkmanager.
Are there any known problems?

monitor powersaving
by Martin (KDE)
Hallo
since my upgrade from F10 to F11 the monitor power saving no longer
works with KDE (I never have tested it with other DEs). Neither power
saving settings in system advanced configuration nor the usual
settings in the display config changes anything. Are there any special
settings to get DPMS working again? Sadly enough, KDE 4.3 dos not make
any difference.
