Need some testing done.
by Steven M. Parrish
I am working on tracking down what is causing KPackagekit to change its
default behavior. We have the defaults set to Daily/None but somehow they
are getting changed to Hourly/Security. Based on what I am seeing on my own
boxes it appears to be changing when kpackagekit crashes for whatever reason.
This is what I need to help track it down. If kpackagekit crashes by itself
or if you have to abort it please do the following.
cat ~/.kde/share/config/KPackageKit
make sure that the first 3 lines read as follows.
(Assumes you have Daily/None)
[CheckUpdate]
autoUpdate=0
interval=86400
If it does not match please do
stat ~/.kde/share/config/KPackageKit
note the time the file was last modified and see if that coincides with the
crash of kpackagekit.
reply to this post with your observations.
Thanks
Steven

KMail - thread/unthread
by Anne Wilson
Last month I asked this question on the kde-pim user list, and got no reply:
I normally read mail threaded, but sometimes when searching among older mails
I like to unthread a folder, then search, for instance, on Sender. With the
new aggregation settings there doesn't seem to be any way to temporarily
override them - or am I missing something?
Is there really no quick way to do this now?

kmail sending failure
by Neal Becker
I've seen 2 times in last 24 hours kmail failing to send. I've just realized
the symptoms are completely consistent with failing to open the dialog asking
for wallet password.
When sending, if wallet is not opened, kmail will open dialog. When that
happens, the kmail composing frame will be grayed out.
This happened 2 times, except the wallet dialog did not appear, and nothing I
tried could get kmail to close the composing window and send the mail.
Attempting to close the composing window (e.g., save as draft) seemed to do
nothing.
Anyone else see this? (Never saw this before 4.3)

re-testing kde-plasma-networkmanagement
by Neal Becker
I'm interested in re-testing kde-plasma-networkmanagement to see if my issues
with connecting to WPA are fixed.
How can I test without bricking my machine? IIRC, I need to yum remove
NetworkManager-gnome. I don't want to do anything that requires working net
to reverse. Could I just mv /usr/bin/nm-applet{,.save} instead?

like I still don't have correct debuginfo installed? I got this trace:

= Agenda =
* add yum-presto to KDE live images as default? (see [1])
* PolicyKit 1 Authentication Agent
* KDE 4.3.0 update status
= Summary =
o yum-presto as default on KDE live images?:
* yum-presto was recently added to the GNOME (a.k.a. Desktop) live images to
be used by default.
* It will also be added to the KDE live images.
o PolicyKit 1 Authentication Agent:
* The Polkit1 Authentification agent is not ready to use with KPackageKit.
* Although PackageKit-qt shouldn't need to be updated (up to RichardHughes)
only a ported KPackageKit is working.
* With the current KPackageKit gnome-authentification-agent is also not
working.
* A newer KPackageKit (with updated method calls) will be released by the end
of the week. With it gnome-authentification-agent should be working.
* But a KDE based authentification agent would still be a good thing.
o KDE 4.3.0 update status:
* The received feedback was quite good so far.
* An updated selinux-policy [2] is needed to be pushed to stable with/before
KDE 4.3.0 to don't fail suspend to ram in enforcing mode. (#516824).
* It also needs to be checked if F-10 is also affected by this.
* Two known regressions are left:
- #516445: Show Dashboard Shortcut (ctrl-f12) doesn't work after upgrade to
kde 4.3.0.
- #518000: suspend/hibernate from menu not working after update to KDE 4.3
* The first one needs a kconf_update script to be written. (plasma binary was
renamed to plasma-desktop).
* Updated extragear packages are already in updates-testing for F-10 and F-11
and will hit Rawhide after the freeze.
* akonadi has become a direct dependency of kdebase-workspace at compile time.
* We'll need to investigate if akonadi is really an optional package and if we
a) could split the dependency into a subpackage of kdebase-workspace and
b) disable the requirement for other packages without loosing functionality.
