Amarok only sees 1/10 of my tracks
by Kim Bisgaard
Hi,
I'm experiences that Amarok only sees (in the collection) 1/10 of my
tracks (approx.) - often only one track on each cd, many cd's are
totally absent.
This is on today's (and the same back in 4.2 beta days)
f10+kde-unstable. :-(
With same version installed on Kubuntu Intrepid+kde4.2-rc1 it can find
all my music. :-P
I have tried to "rescan collection" many times. I may be that Amarok
spawns treads to deal with scanning a number of files, but at some point
these treads dies, and does not finish inserting the rest of the file
into the DB - don't know.
While "rescan collection" I get these on the console:
TagLib: MPEG::Header::parse() -- Invalid sample rate.
TagLib: MPEG::Header::parse() -- Invalid sample rate.
TagLib: MPEG::Header::parse() -- Invalid sample rate.
TagLib: MPEG::Header::parse() -- Invalid sample rate.
TagLib: Ogg::File::packet() -- Could not find the requested packet.
TagLib: Vorbis::File::read() - Could not find the Vorbis comment header.
TagLib: MPEG::Header::parse() -- Invalid sample rate.
TagLib: MPEG::Properties::read() -- Page headers were invalid.
TagLib: MPEG::Header::parse() -- Invalid sample rate.
TagLib: MPEG::Properties::read() -- Page headers were invalid.
TagLib: Ogg::File::packet() -- Could not find the requested packet.
TagLib: Vorbis::File::read() - Could not find the Vorbis comment header.
Have anybody experienced the same, and perhaps even found a workaround?
Thanks in advance,
Kim

where to report regressions/bugs about kde-4.96-1 in Fedora 10
by Gabriel Ramirez
Hello,
I upgraded to kde 4.1.96-1 in Fedora running in a netbook display
resolution 1024x600 and is running great, better which 4.1.3 except the
following:
- konsole seems to set the default width of window to about half width
screen seems a great idea having two terminals running side by side but
the only problem at font size 7 the column width equals 70 characters so
some programs as w refuse to run, I can resize the window but the
setting is lost when quit the application.
the setting stay in kde 4.1.3-2
- the lock/logout plasmoid defaults to 2 icons of normal size,
where in kde 4.1.3-2 are 2 small icons stacked in vertical
I don't find where to select small icons in lock/logout plasmoid 4.1.96-1
- powerdevil runs perfectly except cannot change the brightness of
display, not really important I can change the brightness via keyboard.
so where is the proper place to report them?
thanks

kpilot
by freeslkr
I had seen several months ago on at least one of the fedora
lists that kpilot was to be restored to KDE 4.2 (in place of
a non-stable kitchensync). As kpilot doesn't seem to be in
the 4.2 release candidate, I have my doubts. Does anyone on
this list have more information? Thank you.

Could/should the new nvidia driver be added to the release candidate live release ?
by linux guy
There has been a lot of discussion about how various KDE components
utilize special graphics routines/modes available on certain video cards
and that the drivers for certain cards have bugs in them that don't
allow said KDE components to run properly.
I am wondering if the release candidates shouldn't have the latest and
greatest nvidia drivers installed on them so that a) the KDE components
get tested as they were intended to run and b) the nvidia drivers get
tested too.
Please discuss.
Thanks

konqueror forgets SSL CA certificates
by Andreas Petzold
Hi,
I'm running kde 4.1.96 and I've run into a strange problem in
konqueror conserning the import of SSL certificates.
When I go to Configure Konq->Crypto->SSL Signers->Import to import the
certificate chain of a local CA, the new certs are listed as long as I
don't close the config dialog. Once close the window by pressing OK
and then go back to the crypto settings the imported CA certs are no
longer listed. WTF??
If I visit a web site that is secured with a SSL cert issued by the CA
the cert cannot be validated, thus I deduce that it was never
successfully imported.
Actually, didn't the SSL Signers tab in the past contain a list of all
known CAs? In my konq the list is empty but certs issued by the big
CAs can successfully be validated.
I haven't found a bug report describing this problem, so I would
appreciate if a few people on the list would try to add a CA cert in
konqueror and report the results. If this is a real problem, this
would make konqueror useless as a browser :-(
Cheers,
Andreas

Problems running Fedora 10 KDE in VMWare Workstation 6.5
by Jonathan Jesse
Good afternoon,
I posted a blog post early about having problems with running one of the
betas of Fedora 10 - KDE on my blog and people mentioned to use the
final release when it came out.
Just downloaded Fedora 10 KDE from the website and am running into a
problem.
I see the status bar moving as it tries to load and the screen gets
stuck there. If I hit F4 or F6 it kicks me to a screen showing error
messages and I see modprobe: FATA: Error running install command for
binfmt_0000.
Any ideas to help?
Thanks,
Jonathan
