That is the normal maven that fetches requirements from the web. From my
memories it was maven-rpmbuild or something like that.
The package is maven, it provides /usr/bin/mvn-rpmbuild:

Maybe I should wait and leave the f17 package behind considering that is
going EOL in july?
That's another option. I think it's pretty normal to only provide
bugfixes to older releases like f17. I may be wrong, someone please
correct me if I am! It's sometimes not worth it (or even possible) to
update the older releases with new versions of packages, since you may
not have all the same latest dependencies as you do in current/devel
