Hello Fedora/Java people, First post to the list, so hello! Why no Class-Path manifest attribute?

It seems that a significant number of JAR files under /usr/share/java do not declare their dependencies using the Class-Path manifest attribute. As a result, the dependencies need to be collected manually and included with the final link (typically, in the -classpath argument to /usr/bin/java). This is mightily inconvenient and leaks implementation details across Java RPM package boundaries. (I don't think %jpackage_script does recursive linking, unlike the JVM.) rpmlint flags usage of the Class-Path attribute: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Packaging:Java#class-path-in-manifest But why? -- Florian Weimer / Red Hat Product Security Team

Easymock update to version 3.2

Until recently in Fedora we had 3 versions of easymock - 1, 2 and 3. We have managed to update all dependencies to use the latest upstream version -- 3.2. easymock package was just upfdated from version 1.2 to version 3.2 and easymock3 will be retired. easymock has virtual provides easymock3 for now, but packages should migrate to require just "easymock" or "easymock >= 3" when they are touched. Maven compat alias mvn(easymock:easymock) is *not* provided. Also note that there is license change from MIT to ASL 2.0. Orphaning of freemind and all my remaining Java packages

Hi all, I finally came to the conclusion, that I no longer want to invest time and effort in keeping all my Java packages in good shape. I don't have the time anymore to unbundle all the bundled libraries and keep a dozen downstream patches to make it work. freemind is close to a 1.0.0 release and I provided packages for that already in a small side repo [1]. There are also some review requests for additional libraries [2],[3]. So I will orphan the packages next week and will block them if no one applies for taking them over. - freemind - SimplyHTML - jansi - jansi-native - jarbundler - jibx - xpp3 I hope someone will take good care of them. JUnit snapshot version is packaged in fedora

Hi guys, I just run into a problem and noticed JUnit package in fedora seems to use a snapshot version. It breaks powermock compatibility check. It's a issue in powermock itself and I've reported it http://code.google.com/p/powermock/issues/detail?id=453 But meanwhile, just wondering what's the reason behind packaging a snapshot version? transitioning some packages

Mule FTBFS in rawhide

Hi all, Since mule is failing to build I am attempting to update it to use the new Java guidelines. It currently uses a depmap file to find correct dependencies. How is this done under the new guidelines? From what I've read it appears that simply using "%mvn_build" should work, but it fails to resolve some dependencies. Thanks, Matt Spaulding

Intention to retire xml-commons-apis12

Hi, Would anyone object to me retiring the "xml-commons-apis12" package in F20? It is a compatibility package that has been hanging around for years that provides an earlier version of the APIs provided by the "xml-commons-apis" package. All packages that need these APIs should be requiring or buildrequiring xml-commons-apis instead. The last remaining package in F20 that used this package was axis and I have just committed a patch for the that allows it to build against the newer xml-commons-apis. Ivy integration

Is anyone looking at ways to integrate Ivy more fully into Fedora? I ask because I'm working on packaging sbt[1], which uses Ivy for dependency management; my current approach involves patching sbt to ignore Ivy descriptor files (so it can build with RPM-managed dependencies), but this feels suboptimal and results in some other headaches. Help with the hadoop package review

Bjorn has been reviewing the hadoop package, but I haven't seen him online for about a week now and there's been no comments on the review BZ. I suspect he is on vacation. Would someone be willing to step in and help out with the review? Maybe give it a review so there will be less (no) work to do when Bjorn is able to look at it again? Rob

Packages Obsoletes wrong or missing

Maven auto Requires on hsqldb:hsqldb:1 in rawhide

The requires gets generated automatically (for the subpackage milyn-commons). In rawhide, it's not installable because the autoRequires gets generated as mvn(hsqldb:hsqldb), and not the versioned mvn(hsqldb:hsqldb:1) that's provided by the package hsqldb1 (At least I think that's why the resolution fails). In F19, this problem doesn't seem to occur. Is there a way to force the requires on mvn(hsqldb:hsqldb:1) over the unversioned version, or am I thinking about this the right way at all? BuildRequires resolves fine if it's the versioned equivalent, but the unversioned one fails. I've tried adding a Requires line to the subpackage that needs it, but it didn't seem to work. Should hsqldb1 provide mvn(hsqldb:hsqldb)? I'm not sure if that would cause problems for hsqldb (without the 1), since that provides mvn(org.hsqldb:hsqldb). Has anybody got any ideas what's going wrong here? FTBFS due to missing sisu-inject-bean

Hi guys, just a quick tip: if you have some FTBFS failures due to missing artifact org.sonatype.sisu:sisu-inject-bean, the solution is to replace sisu-inject-bean BR/R with cdi-api1, atinject, aopalliance. Typically not all of them are needed. As you probably already know, Fedora switched from Sonatype Sisu to Eclipse Sisu. Eclipse Sisu doesn't have sisu-inject-bean artifact, but this artifact contains nothing but bundled classes from atinject, cdi-api (1.0), aopalliance and possibly others. So replacing R/BR + patching pom.xml should solve the problem. Regards Michal
