bouncycastle needs a maintainer
by Mikolaj Izdebski
bouncycastle package, which is required by several Java
packages, has no maintainer for half a year [1]. Orphan
packages are automatically deprecated before new release
is branched. Deprecated packages are blocked from release.
If this happens then many Java packages may break and to
fix this a full package review and bodhi update may be
needed. Because of that I would suggest that someone takes
ownership of bouncycastle (I especially have in mind
maintainers of dependent packages).
Currently bouncycastle is required by the following packages:
apache-sshd
apacheds
azureus
bouncycastle-mail [orphan]
bouncycastle-pg [orphan]
cxf
eucalyptus
gradle
jasypt
jglobus
maven-indexer
not-yet-commons-ssl
opensaml-java-xmltooling
portecle
resteasy
sshj
truezip
voms-api-java
xml-security

Change of BR: maven to BR: maven-local started
by Stanislav Ochotnicky
Since FPC approved this change for us, I've gone ahead and started running our
conversion script. Over the course of next few hours ALL maven packages should
receive a commit message with updated BR. There will be no builds done by our
script, we'll wait for mass rebuild (or you can build yourself).
End of Transmission

Dependency problem of freemind and groovy
by Johannes Lips
Hi all,
I received the following bug report, which is mainly saying, that an
average freemind install is a bit too big, because it installs a lot of
eclipse* stuff. [1]
A short analysis shows that the eclipse stuff is pulled in by the
following dep-chain:
freemind <- groovy <- jansi, jansi-native <- hawtjni <- xbean <- eclipse*
I just wanted to ask, if it's possible to split that chain somewhere and
make it a bit easier to install freemind.
Thanks a lot,
Johannes

Java SIG MEETING Feb 5 (tomorrow) 4 PM UTC
by Tomas Radej
Hi,
First of all, I'm sorry that I forgot to send this e-mail last week. The fault's all mine.
Tomorrow (Feb 5) at 4 PM UTC there will be a SIG meeting at #fedora-meeting channel at freenode.
Link: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Meeting:Java_SIG_2013-02
The subject will be mostly the mass rebuild Stanislav Ochotnicky wrote a mail about here (on java-devel), and a great simplification of Java packaging in Fedora.
Feel free to comment or ask questions.
