Hello,

I am an engineering physics student at Istanbul Technical University. And I also work at the National Center for High Performance Computing of Turkey. I am surrounded by RedHat based distributions, at home, at school (Fedora) and at work (CentOS and RedHat), and I use them everyday. Summer of Code program is a great opportunity for me to contribute and become a part of this community.

I am interested in "web hosting control panel" idea, but I am planning to develop a general control panel, not only for hosting purposes. A control panel, that everyone can use for creating shared directories (or even printers) on network, sharing media content with DLNA, managing firewall rules, as well as configuring a web, DNS, mail, FTP server... Being a web developer and a junior system administrator I am well aware of what a user would want from a control panel.

My plan is to develop a very powerful but yet easy to use back-end, which will also be available as command line tools, using Python, and a user-friendly lightweight web front-end which uses the same back-end using Django framework. I am preparing a much more detailed proposal to share on Fedora wiki right now, and then I will create a working demo until student application period ends. The demo will probably have one feature: managing DNS records.

I have applied for the same idea last year, and learned that my mentor had no idea his name is listed as mentor on the last day! I do not want to re-live the same experience, and I am seeking for a mentor to help me making my dreams become true. :)

Thanks for your time,
