Introduction - Outreachy Application - Roha
by Roha Afzal
Hello everybody,
I am an outreachy applicant for this cohort. I am an Engineer by education and training. I
have recently started web development and am familiar with kubernetes and docker. I wish
to contribute to the "Enable CI/CD of content to Fedora docs site" project.
Although I don't have any prior experience working with open source, I am quite
thrilled about this opportunity. I hope to make the most out of this process and learn new things.
Kindly suggest some of the first steps I can take to start contributing.
Looking forward to working with and learning from all of you.
Thanks,
Roha

Introduction (Outreachy Applicant)
by Darshna Das
Hi Everyone,
I hope all are healthy and safe at their homes.
My name is Darshna Das and I am from India, a beginner contributor in open
source. I have been learning Python and experimenting it by contributing to
open source projects since last couple of months now.
I did learn a bit about the Fedora open source community. I have
contributed as an editor to Fedora magazine, and I go by username
climoiselle. I was really intrigued by the fedora-docs-ui project.
I am really excited about contributing to this community, and very ecstatic
to learn new things from you all.

Heads-up: New dist-git release
by Miroslav Suchý
FYI:
There is new dist-git release:
https://github.com/release-engineering/dist-git/wiki/Release-1.16
Clime built it and submitted to Bodhi.
From the release notes:
* Added support for fedora-messaging. Fedmsg is still possible, but it is listed as soft requirement (Suggest).
* spec tweak not to require distgit-selinux in containers
* The name of topic sent to fedora-messaging and is now git.lookaside.new. Previously it was lookaside.new
* There is new systemd-timer which is run monthly. The executable /usr/bin/dist-git-gc runs git gc on every dist-git
repository. This can speed up git cloning and in some cases also save a lot of disk space.
