Meeting Agenda Item: Introduction James
by James Gretton
Hi all,
My name is James and my IRC nick handle is jjlit. I am a system admin
in Australia, recently completed post graduate university qualifications
and am looking for a new hobby, now that ive finished uni. I have been
a long time linux user and fan, and would love to be actively involved
in the system administration of the fedora server infrastructure, no
matter what task. I have a passion for linux and down here in Australia
its hard to be involved in linux as the microsoft juggernaut is very
powerful down here. I realise it will be a while before I am allowed to
participate in active sysadmin tasks, but thats fine, im the same with
my networks. I would also like to get to a stage whereby I can
hopefully train others who are like me, looking for something to devote
their time to. Im also looking for a sponsor to help me get onboard
with the infrastructure team asap, anyone who can help out, much
appreciated in advance.
Regards,
James

Freeze break for post-update hook on pkgs01?
by Ralph Bean
When we were adding the fedmsg hooks to pkgs01 and pkgs01.stg, we decided it
would be a nice "extra" to run "git update server-info" on each repo for each
push. This made cloning via http possible.
We ran a script "git check-perms /srv/git/rpms --check=post-update --fix" on
pkgs01 that added this hook for every repo, but I forgot to add it to
"setup_git_package" so that it would be added for every new repo. Now there
are a handful of repos that do not have the hook, while most others do.
Other than the inconsistency, this doesn't matter all too much. It is
annoying, however, due to a cron job that is checking for the new hook,
failing to find it, and bothering sysadmins about it over email.
I'm seeking +1s for a freeze break to make the following two changes:
1) Run "git check-perms /srv/git/rpms --check=post-update --fix" on pkgs01
again to fix the handful of repos that are out of sync.
2) Apply the following patch in puppet which will add the hook for new repos.

ok. I have mediawiki 1.19.1 setup in staging now.
Please test:
http://stg.fedoraproject.org/wiki/
The database conversion took about 45minutes or so, but seems to have
gone fine, and we ran into a theme issue, but athmane managed to fix
that right up.
I've tested:
* Login works.
* editing pages works.
* lockdown works because it won't let me edit Legal namespace pages.
* pages load in general and look ok.
* Performance seems ok.
Please do check and make sure everything works as you expect.
If things look good we can try and push this into production before the
next freeze hopefully.
thanks,
kevin

How is this wokring this time around.
I see F18 in updates, updates-testing,
but no F18 plain Fedora*.repomd.xml
either under development or releases.
Could not parse metalink
https://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/metalink?repo=fedora-18&arch=x86_64
error was
No repomd file
iirc under f17Branchded it was fedora.repo and updates-testing.repo.

Meeting Agenda Item: Introduction Patrick Stein
by Patrick Stein
Hello all,
Your IRC handle: PatStein
What skills you have to offer and which you would like to learn: Right
now, I don't have much skills in this area. But I want to do system
admin, and network admin work as my career. So I am starting to learn
everything I can, I am getting LPIC +1, Network +, CCNA, and Linux +
within the next few months.
What you would like to work on and quite possibly which outstanding
issues you would like to help resolve: I don't know yet, I am again just
starting out with this.
I would like to add that I am also a Fedora Ambassador.
Thank You for your time,
Patrick Stein
