Suggestion For A New Group: fedora-wbut
by PRABIN DATTA
Sir,
WBUT: WEST BENGAL UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY (http://www.wbut.net/).
Till Date there are 209 colleges (figure may be outdated). For more
info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Bengal_University_of_Technology
I think we need to create a mailing list or fedora-wbut group for
wbut-students on fedora (if possible). Since for each and every fedora
release there is at-least one fedora event by WBUT students. But,
these events lacks co-ordinators, also searching for them before event
is almost not possible due to exams, campussing, college etc. I guess
a group or mailing list will be best to bind them all at a common
place.
Please, kindly give me your suggestion regarding this.
Thank You!!

GNUnify Fedora schedule
by Amit Shah
Hello,
The schedule for gnunify is listed at:
http://gnunify.in/11th-feb-2011
http://gnunify.in/12th-feb-2011
and I was quite surprised to find my talks scheduled on both days in the
Fedora Project Activity slots -- how did they land up there? Well, at
least I should've been informed of my talks in advance :-)
(Well, I haven't prepared for the talks and the talk from foss.in will
be too technical for the GNUnify crowd. I'll try to be around, but I
hope someone can fill in for those slots there.)

What's the difference between 32-bit Fedora iso and 64 bit iso -?
by Lakshmipathi.G
Hi -
I have Fedora -64bit iso image - While trying to install in VBox it says
"this kernel requires an x86-64 CPU but only detect i686 cpu - unable to
boot , please use a kernel appropriate for your cpu".
I understand my VBox won't support 64bit VM's. Though I can download 32-bit
Iso image and install it - which should work.
Is it possible to modify this 64-bit ISO image will allow me to install ?
something like - mount it as loop device and remove 64bit kernel and copy a
32-bit kernel and re-create ISO image ?
Or do we have other issues?

Incomplete Report: On Yesterday's Fedora event
by A. Mani
Some oversights and problems dampened this event:
Rectify/add to this:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora_14_release_party_gcect
Almost the whole of the event organization was done by GCECT students
including Fedora contributors.
The initial organization was good.
The number of participants was high (100+)
Event Publicity level: low
The auditorium selected was an old fashioned one with nothing to write
on ... fairly inappropriate.
Punctuality ?!
Main PC for Fedora Install Demo : Fried apparently due to electricity (?)
Projector became dysfunctional after that.
(I arrived much later for my talk, so did not see. )
Possible reasons: Power surge despite UPS
Box was moved while the PC was in operation
So all speakers had to speak. ...if at all.
I had to reduce a 50 min talk to ~10 min because of the nature of the
topic (had a headache in addition).
Rahul Ghose and Prabin spoke well
Stephanie did not deliver her talk.
audience interaction was good.

Hi
These two should be fairly easy for anyone looking to get started.
