Package review session, May 14th 2010, 6:00 PM.
by Rahul Sundaram
Hi,
After the recent surge in new contributors here, we have a number of
pending review requests. I would like to organize a package review
session where new review requests or existing ones are processed quickly
via IRC by swapping reviews. We will be running this at #fedora-india
irc channel in freenode, Friday May 14th at 6:00 PM and we can carry it
forward based on participation from anyone interested. You do NOT
have to be a package maintainer to do informal reviews. Just follow
the guidelines at
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Packaging:ReviewGuidelines
If you are existing package maintainer, you can do official reviews and
approve any review requests although only a sponsor can approve a review
request from a completely new contributor. Reviewing is a great way to
learn the nuances of packaging and you are free to ask questions and
clarify any doubts about the process while the session is running. See
you soon.

Unable to boot into Fedora
by kietans@gmail.com
This may be a trivial problem for most I'm sure.
I had Fedora and Windows XP installed on my machine. I had to re-install XP
some days back.
XP's bootloader replaced grub, hence I'm unable to boot into Fedora.
I didn't delete/format the partitions on which Fedora was installed.
How can I boot into Fedora again without re-installing it from the
beginning?

APAC query

hey,
What classification does India come under? The APAC page[1] doesn't list
India in the 51 nations.

Ambassadors in India
by Rahul Sundaram
Hi,
Just a heads up for anyone interested:
Over the few years since we started the Fedora Ambassadors initiative,
we have several dozens of folks sign up as Ambassadors from India and
many of them were not active. As part of the change to assign mentors
to new folks interested in becoming ambassadors, we have also taken
efforts to remove inactive ones so that we can retain the people who are
active participants. We currently have three mentors in India for
potential ambassadors - me, Kushal and Susmit and we have consensus that
atleast within India, it is better if anyone interested in becoming
ambasadors become active contributors first to some sub project of
Fedora, be it documentation, artwork, packaging or something else. If
you are a people person, attend events, blog and participate in any
marketing efforts first before applying to be an ambassadors so that we
have a good idea about your interest, skill set and track record in
getting things done. I have no interest in pimping up numbers without
active participation (ie) quality over quantity.

Free media responsibilities
by Ankur Sinha
hi all,
This email is to inform you that I cannot fulfill my free media
responsibilities for this month(at least). It's because of the large
number of wasted DVDs I get while burning media off my laptop. I've had
a hard time fulfilling the past few months requests that I accepted.
It's probably a bad DVD drive. Since I'm going to spend my vacations in
Bangalore (June and most of July), I will try and get media mass burnt
to use for the free media program.
Thanks and apologies,
regards,
Ankur

Gnote help
by Rahul Sundaram
Hi,
Gnote is a port of Tomboy to C++. Since it is a straightforward port,
the help documentation from Tomboy has been adopted by Gnote as well.
GNOME is shifting from DocBook to using a new format call Mallard that
is task based. An example of this change in Tomboy
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/pcutler/~3/aA9sPw3z0gM/
If anyone is willing to help out, I would like to replace the existing
Gnote help with a adaptation of the latest Tomboy help. You will have to
download Tomboy source from http://git.gnome.org/browse/tomboy, extract
the help, search and replace Tomboy with Gnote and replace the
screenshots if necessary. The only major difference between Tomboy and
Gnote at this point is that Gnote lacks syncing capablities so you will
have to omit that from the help fine. Once you created this new help
document, you can post to
http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gnote-list or file a bug report
with the help document attached in http://bugzilla.gnome.org.
Anyone wants to volunteer? As always, I can guide you.

No. Courtesy flows .../both ways/. If you cannot be bothered to be courteous to
let the project know that you are active, the project cannot extend the courtesy
of calling you a contributor anymore, makes sense ?

Ugh ! you don't really that the capacity to understand metaphors, do you ?
For all intents and purposes of the ^project^ (watching the movie) you are in
absentia, so you are no longer relevant to the decision making process of what
happens to your privilege towards the project (ie: your movie ticket).
Don't take a simple metaphor and murder it.
Anyways, seems like you either don't have the comprehension ability to
understand what is being said, or are just too stuck up to admit you were wrong.
This is my last response on this thread.
cheers,
- steve
