networking GUI in KDE (f13)
by pavithran
Hi,
I am using F13 with KDE as default desktop and is updated to the latest . I
am unable to use the existing GUI for configuring the network .
In system settings -> Network Connections My wired connections tab is
disabled. The only tab which was enabled was VPN which I dont need.
I am currently using commandline tools to configure internet but wanted to
show the desktop to some newbies ( yeah its developmental but is latest :))
hence would love to see a GUI which works !
Regards,
Pavithran

Contribution and Collaboration from FAD Pune 2010 participants
by Rahul Sundaram
Hi,
As you might already know, Fedora Activity Day is a event for face to
face collaboration for *existing* Fedora contributors. Some of you who
are not already a contributor have applied and received sponsorship on
the basis that your participation in Fedora will increase as a result of
you attending the event. If you are planning to get some packaging
work done or contribute to Fedora Tour, there is no need to wait till
the event before you start working on it. Consider it as a requirement
that you do get some work done *before* the event.
If you are looking to get started on packaging, take a look at
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Join_the_package_collection_maintainers
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/A_Short_RPM_Tutorial
If you want to work on Fedora Tour, Ankur Sinha has already sent out a
invitation for doing so. Feel free to join the effort. If you have
questions, feel free to ask. I will heartily recommend that
sponsorship be cancelled for those who don't show some interest (for
example by having a review request filed) . Also expand on the agenda
with more details on what you want to do. Instead of "Will do foo",
it should be "I will do X and Y on Foo". If you are going to help by
packaging, name the specific list of software you want to package. In
short, the event is not a party or even a conference but a venue to get
some Fedora work done.

Fedora Activity Day @Pune, mukt.in and, general expense claim bits
by sankarshan
If you aren't attending either of the events mentioned in the subject
or, have no expenses which are required to be reimbursed you can
safely skip reading this mail.
However, if you fall into any of the categories, please make sure:
- you have a ticket on the fedora-india trac
- you have an ACK from me on the expense (ticket, expense)
- you have the original receipts [1]
- you have filed the claim as quickly as you possibly could [2]
If you are participating at the FAD, please use the wiki page to
indicate your date of arrival and departure. That would help Rahul
coordinate the lodgings. We are limited in terms of choices inside of
Magarpatta City and, the quicker we have the data, the easier it is
for us.
As usual, <https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/User:Sankarshan/Questions>
and, <https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/User:Sankarshan/Event_Questions>
are the FAQ URLs
As an aside, if you are attending an event, or, organizing one, it is
expected that you'll blog about it and, perhaps post a few pictures.
/sankarshan
[1] e-tickets are accepted for flights, but for everything else I need
the originals mailed to me.
[2] if you delay, you could end up in situations where we have just
ended a quarter (our quarters start from March and go MAM, JJA, SON
and DJF) or, we have just closed our books wherein it becomes
extremely quirky for me to process the claim through the system. Till
date I have not waited for RHT finance to process the claim I make on
your behalf before transferring monies to your account. In case of a
quirk, I'd wait. So, expect delay in payment.

Alright.
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FAD_Pune_2010
Shakthi Kannan is not coming but we are planning to meet in mukt.in and
get some work done.
Arun Sag - Please confirm if you are planning to attend.
Kedar and Jitesh (Fedora ARM) , add your names to the wiki, assuming
you folks are attending.
If anyone else wants to participate and haven't added their names to the
wiki, do so asap. If you are from outside of Pune and haven't filed a
ticket with the travel details, do that now.. If you have any questions,
feel free to ask.
